Role Summary/

Purpose:

The AVP, Pay Pal Savings Technology Lead provides technical expertise and process execution to support the Pay Pal Savings program. This individual acts as the technical point of contact, coordinating technology oversight, program delivery, solution architecture, governance, audits, issue management, and support for identifying key technology risks. The role oversees cross‑functional and cross‑client teams to ensure compliance with Synchrony standards.

Our Way of Working: We offer choice and flexibility—work from home, a nearby hub, or our offices. Occasional commute may be required for in‑person engagement such as business or team meetings, training, and culture events.

• Partner with stakeholders (including GMs, Pay Pal leaders, product and technology leads, architects) to implement deposit product features and maintain communication throughout project execution.
• Oversee all SDLC phases: technical requirements, design/architecture, build, testing, QA, and production deployment.
• Manage technology relationships with Pay Pal and internal cross‑functional business and technology teams.
• Support project and program management for the Pay Pal Savings program, focusing on Synchrony governance and oversight of Pay Pal‑led initiatives.
• Coordinate internal cross‑functional work streams to keep leadership updated on program status.
• Analyze production defects, troubleshoot systems, identify root causes, and implement fixes.
• Own technology L3 governance activities related to Pay Pal Savings, including risk identification, assessment, and control effectiveness.
• Act as the primary technical liaison for internal and external audits, coordinating documentation requests, managing responses, and driving resolution of findings.
• Document IT oversight governance of key processes, reviews, controls, and governance processes (e.g., projects, production incidents, disaster recovery testing).
• Participate in issue management processes including Enterprise Governance, Risk Management, and Compliance (EGRC).
• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field with minimum 4+ years of experience in IT, OR high school diploma with a minimum of 8 years of IT experience.
• Prior experience as a technical lead, technical project, or program manager.
• Experience owning and delivering mission‑critical projects on time and within budget.
• Willingness to work in a fast‑paced environment with Pay Pal and internal teams.
• Ability to develop and maintain strong collaborative relationships across IT and business stakeholders.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills; adept at presenting complex topics and influencing execution with timely, actionable follow‑through.

• Prior work experience in a banking or fintech company.
• Ability to drive strong partnerships with second‑line teams.
• Demonstrated ability to manage complexity and multiple initiatives.
• Experience in retail deposits, regulatory, or risk.
• Experience dealing with sensitive data and software development in a highly regulated environment.
• Demonstrated experience with partners and clients.

• Advanced technical and analytical competencies in driving effective strategic goals.

Salary range:
90,000.00 –  USD annual, eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance. Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA, NY Metro, and Seattle.
