Job Description
We’re looking for a Senior Staff Engineer, Network Observability who will take a hands‑on lead role in administering, maintaining, and enhancing TJX’s enterprise network tools portfolio, including DXNetOps, Thousand Eyes, Net Brain, and other monitoring platforms. The position focuses on tool optimization, automation development, and API/ITSM integrations that elevate the performance of our global network environment. You’ll serve as a trusted expert, providing advanced support and training to operational teams while shaping the future of our observability capabilities.
Responsibilities
Tool Administration & Maintenance:
Oversee administration and maintenance of Net Ops, Thousand Eyes, Net Brain, Net Scout and other enterprise network monitoring platforms; perform daily health checks, system monitoring, and performance optimization; plan software upgrades, patches, and version control; configure and maintain user accounts, roles, permissions, and access controls; monitor tool performance metrics; maintain high availability and disaster recovery configurations; troubleshoot platform issues; ensure platform security compliance;
manage licensing, capacity planning, and resource utilization.
Automation & Integration Development:
Develop and maintain automation workflows using Python, Power Shell, and REST APIs; build integrations between network tools and ITSM platforms such as Service Now and Jira; create custom API connectors for data exchange; design and implement automated runbooks; develop data parsers and adapters; build custom dashboards; implement CI/CD pipelines for tool configuration management; automate reporting and alerting workflows.
User Support & Training:
Provide tier‑2 technical support to L1 operations team; troubleshoot complex user issues; create and maintain training materials and documentation; conduct hands‑on training sessions; develop user guides and best‑practice documents; maintain knowledge base articles; onboard new team members; gather user feedback; serve as subject‑matter expert.
Enhancement Delivery & Projects:
Implement new tool features, modules, and capabilities; execute integration projects; deploy configuration changes and updates; support tool migration and consolidation initiatives; test new releases; coordinate with vendors; participate in tool evaluation; document implementation procedures and lessons learned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics, or a related field.
4‑6 years of hands‑on network engineering or network operations experience.
Strong experience with network monitoring tools (DXNetOps, Thousand Eyes, Netscout, Grafana, Power Bi).
Working knowledge of packet analysis tools.
Intermediate‑level scripting skills:
Python (required), Power Shell, Bash, JavaScript.
Strong API integration experience: REST APIs, JSON, XML, authentication methods.
Knowledge of network protocols: TCP/IP, BGP, SDWAN, ADVPN, EIGRP, MPLS.
Experience with multi‑vendor network environments (Fortinet, Cisco, Arista, Juniper, Palo Alto, F5).
Familiarity with Git version control and CI/CD practices.
Understanding of SQL/database queries for data extraction and reporting.
Experience with Linux/Unix systems administration.
Certifications (Preferred)
CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent networking certification.
Python certification or demonstrable scripting portfolio.
ITIL Foundation.
