Role SummaryCloud Engineering Specialist – independently implements core infrastructure and security services in Amazon Web Services to deliver highly available and scalable services, automating time‑intensive processes while meeting security and compliance objectives within the secure cloud ecosystem.
Security ClearanceDV (Developed Vetting) level clearance required. DV screening link: An allowance of £5k per annum may be payable while the role requires DV clearance.
Location & Working HoursBased in London, Cheltenham or Ipswich – onsite (5 days office based). Monday – Friday, 9:00‑17:00. Must have lived in the UK for 10+ years to meet clearance requirements.
Responsibilities- Build and develop world‑class secure cloud‑based solutions as part of an agile delivery team.
- Lead the design of cloud solutions, balancing performance, security, scalability, maintainability, reusability and reliability.
- Manage automation initiatives for cloud infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, self‑service, infrastructure‑as‑code, auto‑scale initiatives and Dev Ops deployment.
- Communicate with stakeholders to influence cloud‑native adoption, informing them on efficient platform use.
- Deliver consultative advice on system architecture and recommend solutions aligned with best practices.
- Collaborate with quality assurance, technical writers, product owners and business stakeholders to scope, de‑risk and complete development cycles.
- Analyze data to guide investment decisions and iterate on efficiency and cloud‑management tools.
- Promote a risk‑aware culture and ensure compliance with security policies and standards.
- Identify, analyze, and resolve complex infrastructure vulnerabilities and deployment issues.
- Champion emerging trends, share knowledge, and mentor other cloud engineers.

- Experience with Kubernetes or AWS EKS
- Team leadership and professional development
- CI/CD pipelines and tools such as Jenkins.
- Automation of management and maintenance activities (e.g., cloud account creation, bulk user management).
- Micro‑service and container‑based deployment strategies, zero‑trust authorization models.
- Experience migrating on‑premises solutions to AWS.
- Knowledge of Azure, GCP or other cloud platforms.
