The Business

Oxford Flow was founded in 2015 as a spin‑out from The University of Oxford and produces some of the most precise and accurate flow control valves in the world. We are an engineering led technology company which has revolutionised valve design with our range of zero emissions control valves and regulators; these products will transform global fugitive emissions in industries such as oil & gas, gas transmission & distribution, and other process industries.

The addressable market for Oxford Flow’s innovative technology is a £5bn sector of the global £70bn valve and actuator market.

The company has recently secured £20m investment from two major strategic organisations to accelerate its growth plans and we are seeking talented individuals to be part of the exciting journey to follow.

The Role

Reporting to the Chief Finance Officer, the IT Manager will be responsible and accountable for the daily operations of the IT department, ensuring the secure and effective functioning of the company's computer systems, applications, hardware, and software. Responsibilities also include supervising troubleshooting, system backups, archiving and disaster recovery processes.

IT Operations and Support
  • Daily monitoring, maintenance and troubleshooting of IT systems.
  • Collaborating with department heads and senior management and gathering feedback.
  • Maintaining relationships with technology vendors and service providers (includes negotiating contracts, reviewing performance, making recommendations for vendor selection or changes etc.).
  • Setting and monitoring Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for internal and external IT support to ensure timely response and issue resolution.
  • Set up new devices and install necessary software.
Security and Risk Management
  • Implementing and managing security measures to protect the organisation’s IT systems and data (e.g. establishing security policies, data management and backup policies, ensuring effective firewall and antivirus protection, monitoring for potential threats, etc.).
  • Performing regular risk assessments and implementing disaster recovery plans.
ERP implementation Project
  • When required assist ERP Specialist to ensure a smooth project implementation.
Strategic Planning
  • Identification of technology needs – Collaborating with department heads on IT requirements, issues and opportunities for improvement. Leading discussions to understand the specific requirements of different departments.
  • Technology road‑mapping – Creating a technology roadmap that outlines the strategic direction for IT initiatives (short‑term and long‑term goals, technology investments and project timelines that align with the organisation’s growth plans).
  • Evaluating IT support service, software and hardware vendors, monitoring service and delivery quality and support levels and making recommendations based on these evaluations.
  • Managing the IT budget and allocating resources for various projects and operational needs. Renegotiating vendor contracts, identifying areas for cost savings and ensuring that IT expenses align with the budget. Balancing the allocation of funds to support current operations, ongoing maintenance and strategic initiatives.

This is an individual contributor role that requires a strong combination of IT systems knowledge, cybersecurity best practice, data governance, network infrastructure and interpersonal skills to drive success in a working environment that is critical to the success of the business.
