Senior Power BI Developer
We are looking for a Senior Power BI Developer for a minimum 6 month contract with our client in the financial industry. This position will focus on designing, developing and leading the creation of reports, dashboards and data models that are effective for all-levels of management from operational to executive levels. The ideal candidate will be a senior developer who has a strong background in the Microsoft BI stack and Azure with a proven experience implementing deliverables utilizing an agile/scrum framework.
This person will need to have an ability to work independently on multiple simultaneous tasks within a challenging fast paced team and customer-oriented environment.
Responsibilities
Develop Reporting and Analytical Solutions using Microsoft and Azure BI PlatformProvide guidance to business and BI report developers on how to best design reports and dashboards for end-user consumptionEstablish best practices and standards for reporting/dashboard and data model creationAssist in determining team approaches to governance and management of key dashboards, reports and data modelsInteracts with key business & technology stakeholders to define, analyse, and deliver requirements that reflect the needs of both the business and end-usersWork closely with the business to analyse requirements to produce reports that are beneficial and valuable for analyticsProvide leadership in projects to ensure business is aware of data quality and availability to generate the reports and dashboard they need to manage their line of businessProvide training to the business users related to general used of the Microsoft BI toolsEnsure self-service capabilities are known by end-users and monitor adoption by businessHelp with mentoring the BI team members in the domain of visualization & dashboarding and modelling on Microsoft and Azure BI PlatformValidate information generated within reports and dashboards that are developed by the BI teamParticipate in user acceptance testing (including scenario development) and document test resultsEnsure integrity of information is maintained post-implementation by periodic audits of reports in productionQualifications
5+ years in business intelligence, business consultation and solution design3+ years of work experience with data warehousing and Microsoft Business Intelligence tools – Power BI/SSIS/SSAS/SSRS/SQL/ DAX/Data ModellingExposure to Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Data Warehouse are assetsStrong understanding of data warehousing methodologies and ETL conceptsWork experience with Python and ML is a bonusPast experience with a Financial company is an assetThis is a minimum 6 month contract located in Toronto, ON (work from home until deemed safe)
