The Sr. Network Engineer will define and perform lifecycle maintenance plans for production software and related equipment. The role provides daily administration and oversight of enterprise network additions, works with Project Managers to develop project scopes, estimates, milestones, and timelines.
Duties & Responsibilities- Participate on project teams for large IT infrastructure initiatives and periodically take a project lead role.
- Define and perform lifecycle maintenance plans for production software and related equipment.
- Act as a customer liaison for day‑to‑day support activities.
- Participate in planned monthly IT maintenance events (e.g., patching).
- Work with Project Managers to develop project scopes, estimates, milestones, and timelines.
- Act as a technical escalation point for complex support issues.
- Provide daily administration and oversight of enterprise network equipment.
- Proactively identify, analyze, and resolve network problems, performance issues, and network circuit performance.
- Act as a technical consultant on assigned projects.
- Research, identify, and evaluate new products, equipment, and services to support IT efficiency and business growth.
- Interact and coordinate with vendors, suppliers, distributors, and contract consultants.
- Provide technical assistance and mentoring to team members to increase skill sets and understanding.
- Maintain a good working knowledge of the current industry standards for router, switch, and firewall configurations and settings.
- Manage network cloud environments in accordance with company security guidelines.
- Bachelor’s Degree (preferred emphasis in Computer Science or MIS) or equivalent experience.
- 4–7 years of experience in Network Engineering.
- Experience with scripting and programming network equipment (Python, Ansible).
- Experience with SOA applications and cloud‑based services, preferably AWS or Azure.
- Thorough knowledge of routing protocols.
- Thorough knowledge of circuit technologies.
- Thorough knowledge of troubleshooting network and circuit issues.
- Knowledge of ITIL and industry best practices.
- Experience working within an IT organization in the financial services industry.
- Thorough knowledge of routing protocols including OSPF, EIGRP, RIP, and BGP.
- Knowledge of Application Centric Infrastructure (ACI), Net Flow, and managing circuit throughput.
- Thorough knowledge of TCP and UDP traffic troubleshooting.
- Network certifications and/or Open Stack Administrator certification.
- Knowledge of DCIM solutions.
- Advanced knowledge of Palo Alto Panorama.
- Disaster Recovery and BCP experience.
- Experience in distributed data center models.
- Experience with automated monitoring tools.
- Experience with collaboration software.
- Strong organizational, communication, and time‑management skills.
- Interpersonal and presentation skills for interacting with team members and business units.
- Analytical problem‑solving and decision‑making skills.
- Ability to work in a team environment and to develop and mentor employees.
- Strong technical documentation ability.
