Power BI Developer – Channels Analytics
Our financial services client is expanding its responsibility for Digital Sales insights and reporting. The team is responsible for understanding customer behavior across the digital acquisition funnel and converting complex data into meaningful metrics, dashboards, and decision‑support tools. We are seeking a Power BI Developer who can take ownership of metric logic, troubleshoot existing reporting, and help rebuild pieces of the reporting ecosystem impacted by technical debt.
This is a highly collaborative role within a 6‑person analytics team supporting multiple internal stakeholders across Digital Sales, Branch, Call Center, and P&BB.
- Strong Power BI development experience.
- Ability to use SQL for data normalization and preparation.
- Support reporting requests and clean up existing Power BI work.
- Skill gap for SAS and Adobe‑related work. Digital sales reporting (built by Canadians) is entirely in SAS.
- Understand SAS language, workflows, and logic.
- Can convert SAS into SQL or Python.
Skills & Qualifications
- Develop Power BI, understand DAX.
- SAS experience preferred, as the underlying data workflows are written in SAS.
- Manual work to maintain part of this effort.
- Adobe Analytics would be a bonus.
- BUT the catch is, I don’t want a SAS developer (solely) as this will be a reduced function in future (so someone understands it & who could migrate it out to SQL/Python).
- Build, maintain, and optimize dashboards across 150+ metrics spanning four major reporting areas.
- Support BI modernization efforts by refining and standardizing reporting templates and schema developed over the past year.
- Write and refine DAX measures; ensure metric accuracy and performance.
- Troubleshoot issues by identifying the specific DAX or model logic causing discrepancies.
- Contribute to semantic model design and long‑term reporting architecture.
- Own end‑to‑end metric creation for digital customer journey reporting.
- Validate metrics across multiple systems using SQL and other tools.
- Maintain manual ingestion processes (Adobe ? Power BI) while evaluating opportunities for automation.
- Work with SAS‑based pipelines and data tables feeding Power BI dashboards.
- Work within a 6‑person analytics/ETL team operating as generalists.
- Communicate clearly about impacts, dependencies, and metric design decisions.
- Strong experience building Power BI dashboards end‑to‑end.
- Deep proficiency in DAX for metric creation and performance tuning.
- Experience designing and using semantic models.
- Strong SQL skills for data validation and troubleshooting.
- Proven ability to work through technical debt and rebuild complex reporting assets.
- Excellent analytical thinking and problem‑solving skills.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast‑moving environment with manual processes and evolving data sources.
- Curious, proactive, and thoughtful in how you approach complex problems.
- Collaborative team member who others want to work with.
- Genuine passion for analytics, metrics, and customer behavior insights.
- Experience with Adobe Analytics or other digital analytics tools.
- Experience with SAS‑based data pipelines.
- Python exposure for data validation and automation.
- Prior experience in banking or financial services.
