Data Governance Consultant
Our client is seeking a Data Governance Consultant to support the planning, execution, and continuous improvement of enterprise data governance initiatives. This individual will play a key role in ensuring data standards, quality, and metadata practices are applied consistently, while partnering closely with business and technical stakeholders to enable trusted, well-governed data across the organization.

This role is fully remote.

  • Lead the planning and delivery of data and business intelligence governance initiatives, ensuring milestones and deliverables align with organizational priorities.
  • Drive timely execution of governance activities while proactively identifying risks, dependencies, and potential blockers.
  • Escalate issues as needed and partner with appropriate stakeholders to ensure swift resolution.
  • Coach and guide team members and partners on data governance concepts, standards, policies, and best practices.
  • Oversee metadata management efforts, including the curation and ongoing quality of the business glossary and related assets.
  • Define, implement, and maintain data quality rules to support accuracy, consistency, and reliability of enterprise data.
  • Ensure alignment between business definitions and technical metadata, including fields, data types, lineage, and storage attributes across systems.
  • Apply governance frameworks and standards consistently across all data initiatives and work streams.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively to encourage adoption, foster collaboration, and highlight governance program outcomes.
Data Governance Consultant Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 8 or more years of experience supporting data governance and data management initiatives in complex environments.
  • Demonstrated experience leading or facilitating data governance, data quality, data stewardship, and cross-functional collaboration efforts.
  • Strong understanding of established data governance frameworks, including DAMA/DMBOK principles.
  • Solid analytical, problem-solving, stakeholder management, and communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of data modeling concepts and practices.
  • Hands-on experience with data governance and data quality platforms, particularly Collibra, is highly desirable.
  • Experience delivering data governance initiatives within an Agile delivery model is a strong plus.
