Responsibilities- Leverage monitoring tools such as Solar Winds, Dynatrace, Splunk, and Science Logic to pinpoint the root cause of service disruptions, ensuring minimal impact on business operations.
- Analyze system logs, performance metrics, and other relevant data sources to uncover patterns and trends that may contribute to service disruptions.
- Create detailed alert analysis, documenting priority analysis, impact analysis, trend analysis, and recommendations to restore service quickly.
- Partner with service owners, system administrators, and other teams to facilitate effective communication and cooperation in resolving issues.
- Participate in all Major Incident Management calls and provide expert analysis to isolate issues and bring the appropriate support team to the call to repair Major Incidents expeditiously.
- Escalate as per documented criticality matrix definitions and processes.
- Must have operational experience working in a Command Center activity, actively communicating with teammates and mission partners to identify, analyze, correlate and assist to resolve performance issues that negatively impact IT enterprise systems, applications, infrastructure and services.
- Must have in-depth knowledge of and expertise in using enterprise monitoring tools [in use by the Department of Veterans Affairs]--these include Service Now, Solar Winds, Dynatrace, Science Logic, Splunk ITSI and others.
- Exceptional written and verbal communications skills.
- Extensive hands‑on experience in troubleshooting complex technical issues with a distributed system environment.
- Must have familiarity with at least two of the following monitoring tools:
Solar Winds, Splunk, App Dynamics, Dynatrace, and Science Logic. - Demonstrated ability to dissect intricate problems, employ critical thinking, and apply systematic approaches to isolate and resolve issues efficiently.
- Experience participating in Major Incidents.
- Enthusiasm for staying up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices related to troubleshooting and event management.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, math or related technical discipline and 5+ years' work experience.
- Eight (8) years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education (13 years total).
- The ability to pass a Tier 2/Moderate Background Investigation.
