AWS Database Migration Architect

As an AWS Database Migration Architect, you will drive enterprise database modernization and migration to AWS, leading the design and execution of complex, heterogeneous migrations. You will architect resilient, high‑performance cloud database solutions, implement database Dev Ops practices, and ensure operational excellence. Your work will directly impact platform stability, scalability, and long‑term cloud adoption.

• Lead end‑to‑end heterogeneous database migrations using AWS Database Migration Service and AWS Schema Conversion Tool, including full load and CDC strategies.
• Assess source and target databases (Oracle, DB2 LUW, SQL Server, Postgre
  
  SQL, MySQL) and design optimized migration strategies.
• Execute pre‑migration readiness: connectivity validation, sizing, parameter tuning, character sets and collations, LOB handling, constraints, and triggers.
• Perform schema conversions using SCT and integrate with DMS for complete migration workflows.
• Validate migration cutovers with data reconciliation, checksum/row count verification, and rollback strategies.
• Architect, deploy, and support Amazon Aurora and RDS with high availability features.
• Apply strong DBA fundamentals, including performance tuning, security hardening, backup/restore, monitoring, and HA/DR strategies.
• Implement Database Dev Ops using Liquibase, versioning, rollback strategies, and controlled releases.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines integrating Liquibase using Jenkins, Git Hub Actions, or Azure Dev Ops.
• Ensure secure and compliant operations with IAM, KMS, AWS Secrets Manager, Cloud Watch, and Performance Insights.

• 10+ years of experience in database engineering, cloud infrastructure, or platform architecture.
• Hands‑on expertise with AWS DMS and AWS SCT for heterogeneous database migrations.
• Proven experience with Liquibase and database Dev Ops automation.
• Strong experience designing and supporting Aurora MySQL, Aurora Postgre
  
  SQL, RDS MySQL, RDS Postgre
  
  SQL, and RDS SQL Server in production environments.
• Deep knowledge of enterprise database platforms including Oracle and DB2 LUW.
• Strong understanding of database performance tuning, security, backup/restore, and high availability architectures.

• Experience with Sybase database administration.
• Background in AIX administration.
• IBM Certified Database Administrator certification.
• Sybase Database Certification or equivalent enterprise database credentials.

Applications will be accepted until January 16, 2026. The annual salary for this position is between $99,000 and $116,000 depending on experience and other qualifications. This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program.
