Platform Engineer (Dev Ops Academy) – Belfast
We are launching the latest edition of our Dev Ops Academy in March 2026 in Belfast (Northern Ireland). You do not need prior Dev Ops experience – we look for strong interest in Dev Ops and a willingness to learn.
By joining the program, you will start a 6‑8 week training program (internal and external) that will introduce you to Kainos work practices and equip you with the knowledge you need to join our projects as a Platform Engineer.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with engineering, testing, consulting, product management, and security teams to build, test and deploy high‑quality software.
- Assist in adopting the latest technologies to maximise user and business value.
- Learn and foster an open, inclusive Dev Ops culture.
- Contribute ideas to ensure services are scalable, secure, reliable and performant.
- Support production services by recommending continuous improvement and ensuring availability, security and performance.
What to Expect from the Training Program
- Containerisation and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Infrastructure automation (Terraform)
- Agile software development, Scrum, Jenkins, CI/CD practices
- Cloud environments (AWS, Microsoft Azure)
- Version control systems
Requirements
- Proven experience with Linux/Unix operating systems.
- Experience automating tasks with scripting languages.
- Technical support or troubleshooting experience is ideal.
- Understanding of root‑cause analysis.
- Knowledge of CI/CD techniques for building, testing and deploying software.
- Strong team skills and ability to take direction from others.
