Opportunity: A two‑day virtual discovery programme for university students, designed to provide insight into Barclays’ technology career paths and to identify candidates for the 2027 internship. The programme will include seminars, workshops, breakout sessions, networking and an overview of the recruitment process.

About Technology at Barclays

As a technology graduate, you will help shape the future of fintech, working on projects involving machine learning, blockchain and digital infrastructure.

Who can apply?

2‑years‑out‑from‑graduation students in any degree discipline, who are curious about how a global bank adapts in a constantly evolving environment. Recruitment is on a rolling basis; early application is recommended.

Barclays does not provide sponsorship for the 2‑day insight programme. If you secure a place in the 2027 Summer Internship, Barclays may apply for a skilled‑worker visa, subject to Home Office eligibility.

Working at Northampton

While the discovery programme is virtual, successful internship candidates will be based in Northampton – a strategic hub for businesses such as fraud detection and technology innovation.

Purpose of the role

To design, develop and improve software, using engineering methodologies to provide business, platform, and technology capabilities for customers and colleagues.

Accountabilities
  • Develop and deliver high‑quality software solutions using industry‑aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools.
  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure alignment with business objectives.
  • Participate in code reviews and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
  • Adhere to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities and protect sensitive data.
  • Implement effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.
