The EOR engine is the heart of Deel’s mission: enabling compliant, global employment for hundreds of thousands of people. This is a leadership role that anchors the architecture and operation of a platform that creates global compliance, payroll, and complex financial workflows across dozens of jurisdictions. You will oversee a global engineering organization of 8 high‑performing teams (55+ engineers) and set the technical bar while actively driving architectural excellence.

• Scale and Lead:
  Manage 55+ engineers (split into 8 teams), mentoring Engineering Team Leads and Software Engineers and ensuring the collective output meets Deel’s high standards.
• Technical Command & Standards:
  Act as the hands‑on technical authority for the EOR platform, contributing to mission‑critical system design, performing deep‑dive architectural reviews, and handling P0 production incidents as the final technical escalation point.
• High‑Performance & Direct Feedback:
  Maintain and elevate a world‑class engineering bar, cultivating a culture of high accountability, rapid iteration, and radically candid feedback.
• Product Ownership:
  Partner with Product and Design to oversee the full lifecycle of the EOR experience—from onboarding and contract generation to the management of active global contracts and high‑stakes special projects.
• Modern Delivery & AI Leadership:
  Champion the adoption of cutting‑edge AI‑assisted engineering tools (Git Hub Copilot, Cursor, etc.) and cloud‑native environments to accelerate team velocity and code quality.
• Operational Excellence:
  Ensure the reliability and security of complex backend systems that handle sensitive legal and financial data across multiple jurisdictions.

• Expert Distributed Systems & Data Integrity:
  Design and scale highly‑available, distributed systems with elite backend expertise (Node.js/Postgre
  
  SQL) and manage complex, multi‑jurisdictional data models and integrations.
• Technical Firefighting & Infrastructure:
  Hands‑on debugging, cloud‑native infrastructure (AWS), and rapid diagnosis/resolution of deep system issues in high‑pressure production environments.
• AI & Cloud Native:
  Early adopter of AI‑augmented engineering and expert in leveraging cloud code environments to streamline the deployment pipeline.
• Organizational Mastery:
  Proven experience managing “teams of teams” (50+ headcount), optimizing structure, communication, and delivery across multiple work streams.

• Master Ambiguity:
  Treat ambiguous “Special Projects”—technical greenfields with high business impact—as opportunities to build scalable, well‑engineered products.
• Radically Candid:
  Deliver fast, direct feedback and conduct difficult performance conversations with confidence.

  Significant time in a high‑growth SaaS environment, managing managers and maintaining a boots‑on‑the‑ground technical approach.
