SQL Dev Ops Engineer with Kubernetes experience to strengthen the reliability, performance, and security of our operational data stores (ODS). In this role, you will take end-to-end ownership of Postgre
SQL deployments that power critical product capabilities. You will work closely with platform engineers, developers, architects, IT, and security to deliver resilient database foundations, enable self‑service for teams, and continuously modernize our operational setup.
- Own and evolve Sofico's Postgre
SQL deployments (self‑managed on Kubernetes and managed cloud services), with a strong focus on availability, performance, security, and automation. - Design and operate HA/DR patterns: replication, failover, backup/restore, PITR, disaster recovery testing, and capacity planning.
- Build and maintain Kubernetes‑based database capabilities (Postgre
SQL Operators, Helm/Kustomize‑based deployments), including upgrade strategies and runbooks. - Implement IaC and platform automation using a Git Ops workflow (FluxCD).
- Setup monitoring and observability for database services (Prometheus, Grafana, logging).
- Drive proactive performance engineering: query tuning, configuration hardening, etc.
- Partner with product teams on schema evolution, migrations, and reliability improvements.
- Document decisions (ADRs) and coach teams on best practices.
- Strong hands‑on experience operating Postgre
SQL in production at scale. - Solid understanding of Postgre
SQL internals and operations: autovacuum, WAL, replication, connection pooling, and backup tooling. - Proven experience with Kubernetes in production and familiarity with database operations on K8s (operators, stateful workloads, storage classes, network policies).
Experience with Cloud
Native
PG is a plus. - Experience with Azure, including managed Postgre
SQL, is a plus. - Practical experience with Git Ops workflows (FluxCD, Helm, Kustomize).
- Knowledge of security best practices: secrets management, encryption in transit/at rest, auditing, and compliance‑driven controls.
- Clear communicator who can explain trade‑offs to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders and collaborate across teams.
