The Service Now Specialist is a certified Service Now Administrator (CSA) with senior-level experience in Strategic Portfolio Management (SPM) and/or Application Portfolio Management (APM).
The SPM Specialist leverages expertise in the platform to create customized solutions for managing project portfolios, resource allocation, and overall strategic initiatives. They collaborate with business stakeholders to translate requirements into functional Service Now applications. A strong understanding of strategic portfolio management concepts—such as project prioritization, resource allocation, financial planning, and performance metrics is essential.
The APM Specialist uses the platform to provide a comprehensive view of an organization’s application landscape, facilitating informed decision-making regarding application rationalization, optimization, and investment strategies. They leverage data analysis and reporting capabilities within the APM module and must have deep CMDB experience
, including implementing or maintaining a services-based CSDM structure.
You will work in a fast-paced Agile environment supporting the Service Now Platform. Responsibilities include administering and supporting multiple Fed Ramp Service Now instances to meet the unique business needs of users and stakeholders. You will collaborate with cross‑functional teams, including architects, business analysts, developers, and product owners, to develop and implement solutions across different applications on the Service Now Platform.
ResponsibilitiesConfigure and develop the Service Now platform, including routine changes and adjustments.
Provision, install, configure, operate, and maintain the Service Now platform.
Perform daily, weekly, and monthly system monitoring to ensure the integrity and availability of Service Now applications.
Collaborate with Platform and Delivery teams to perform Service Now upgrades and patching.
Coordinate system updates across different instances, ensuring patches and configuration changes are applied.
Assist with report configuration, dashboards, and maintenance, while performing operational administrative tasks as needed.
Collaborate with teammates to conduct code reviews and discuss new developments.
Provide support for Production and non‑prod instances.
Work with Production Support and Service Now Operations teams to monitor support cases.
Document administrative processes and issue resolutions.
Engage with business stakeholders to gather and clarify requirements.
Participate in daily scrum meetings and Agile ceremonies.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues across the Service Now platform.
5+ years of experience in Service Now Platform Administration.
5+ years of experience with Service Now applications, including Incident, Problem, Change Management, Knowledge, Service Catalog, ITOM/CMDB, SPM, and APM.
Current Service Now System Administrator (CSA) certification required.
Priority consideration given to candidates with a Service Now Certified Implementation Specialist (CIS) certification in SPM and/or APM.
Strong experience in system administration and JavaScript.
Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and diagnose performance‑related concerns.
Experience working in an Agile environment.
Service Now Development, Administration, and Integration experience.
Service Now Certified Application Developer certification.
Service Now Certified Implementation Specialist for SPM.
ITIL v3 or ITIL v4 certification.
Previously known as ITBM (IT Business Management) and before that as PPM (Project Portfolio Management).
