Position: UX Designer (UK)

Detego Global is on the lookout for a UX Designer.

We are looking for a talented UX Designer who is passionate about creating meaningful, accessible, and delightful user experiences. You will join a dynamic and fast-paced environment and work with cross-functional teams including product managers, developers, and stakeholders to design intuitive interfaces that solve real user problems while respecting diverse needs and promoting digital dignity.

This role will provide the right candidate with the opportunity to work on some extremely rewarding projects supporting the development of impactful software while working with a friendly and supportive team.

The role has a strong opportunity for growth and will play an integral role in helping shape the user experience of the company’s products for the future.

Reports To: Senior Product Manager
Place of Work: Hybrid Remote/Office in Horsham
Compensation: £40,000-£50,000 PA

Responsibilities and Duties

The UX Designer role requires a professional who combines user research, design thinking, and technical collaboration to create exceptional user experiences across our product suite.

They will be responsible for understanding user needs through research and testing, translating insights into design solutions, and working closely with product managers and developers to ensure seamless implementation of user-centred designs.

Their primary responsibility lies in advocating for users throughout the design process while balancing accessibility standards, usability principles, and business objectives to create inclusive products that deliver real value.

Their responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting user research including interviews, surveys, and usability testing to gather deep insights into user behaviours, needs, and pain points
  • Designing wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity mock-ups using tools like Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD
  • Creating journey maps, wireframes/mock-ups, and user profiles that reflect authentic user behaviours and goals
  • Collaborating with product managers and developers to ensure seamless implementation of user-centred designs
  • Advocating for accessibility standards (WCAG) and inclusive design principles throughout the design process
  • Iterating designs based on user feedback and analytics to continuously improve usability and satisfaction
  • Organising and moderating user testing sessions to validate design decisions and identifying improvement opportunities
  • Ensuring design consistency and maintaining design systems across products and platforms
  • Staying informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and sustainable UX practices
  • Communicating design rationale and user insights effectively to stakeholders and leadership
  • Working closely with engineering teams to deliver intuitive interfaces with quick time-to-market
  • Supporting product launches by ensuring user experience excellence across all touchpoints
Skills and Experience
  • Proven experience (typically 2+ years) as a UX Designer or similar role
  • Strong knowledge of usability principles, rules, and heuristics
  • Strong portfolio showcasing user-centred design projects with clear problem-solving approaches
  • Experience organising and moderating user testing sessions
  • Proficiency in UX design and prototyping tools (e.g., Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD)
  • Solid understanding of user research methods and data analysis
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG) and experience designing inclusive products
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to balance user needs with technical constraints and business objectives
  • Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to roll up one’s sleeves to get the job done
  • Skilled at working effectively with cross-functional teams in a matrix organisation
  • Degree in design, human-computer interaction, psychology, or a related field preferred
