Linux Systems Administrator Lead – Joint Integrated Test and Training Center – Nellis (JITTC‑N), Nellis AFB, NV (on‑site).
Responsibilities- Maintain continuous operation of multi‑user Linux computer systems to ensure mission support.
- Lead and mentor a team of System Administrators.
- Set up administrator and service accounts.
- Install system‑wide software and allocate mass storage space.
- Configure and troubleshoot systems (desktop and/or server).
- Optimize system operation, resource utilization, and perform capacity analysis and planning.
- Aid users in accessing and using systems.
- Develop and monitor policies and standards for allocation of computing resources.
- Maintain security updates of operating system and software.
- Maintain system documentation.
- Evaluate vendor products to inform mission partner decisions.
- Provide on‑site support; remote work not available.
- 9 years relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree; 7 years with a Master’s; 4 years with a PhD or Juris Doctor; or High School diploma with 13 years relevant experience.
- Management and/or mentoring experience.
- Experience with Linux system administration.
- Capability to work morning and evening shifts for flexible training operations.
- Must obtain and maintain DoD TS/SCI and relevant SAP/SAR clearance.
- Active Top Secret clearance within last 24 months.
- Certifications:
Linux+ and Security+. - Experience in Joint Simulation Environment (JSE) as a System Administrator.
- Experience maintaining Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) systems.
- Active TS/SCI clearance.
Job performance requires adequate visual acuity and manual dexterity in an office setting.
