• Develop solutions to routine technical problems of limited scope.
• Apply standard practices and procedures to analyze situations or data where answers can readily be obtained.
• Detect, isolate, document, rapidly report, and resolve system outages or problems during operations of scientific workstations, including diagnostic data collection, system restoration, and development of workarounds.
• Accurately document problems in logging and discrepancy reporting tools.
• Work directly with the customer on day‑to‑day activities.
• Respond to user calls regarding hardware/software problems, ensuring escalation when required.
• Communicate with users and senior management the status of key problems.
• Perform hands‑on repair of equipment and maintenance/installation of computing infrastructure.
• Maintain and troubleshoot end‑user computing hardware (printers, workstations, routers, switches).
• Implement continuous‑improvement methodology using IT systems or procedures.
• Maintain inventory of system assets.
• Ensure compliance with VA standards and security policies.
• Provide documentation, training, and additional duties as assigned.
• Troubleshoot and optimize system performance and reliability.

• Experience with AWS/Azure Cloud, S3, Step Functions, Batch Jobs, and Cloud Watch.
• Proven track record managing and maintaining large-scale production systems.
• Strong proficiency in Linux/Unix and Windows operating systems.
• System administration tasks: user management, permissions, monitoring.
• Proficiency in scripting (Python, Bash, Power Shell) for automation and configuration management.
• Experience with automation tools (Ansible, Puppet, Chef, Salt Stack).
• Knowledge of cloud‑native technologies and IaC tools (Cloud Formation).
• Experience with monitoring tools (Dyna Trace, Science Logic, Cloud Watch).
• Understanding of network protocols, firewall configurations, and VPN.
• Experience with network monitoring and diagnostic tools.
• Knowledge of security best practices for production systems.
• Implementation of security measures, audits, compliance with industry standards.
• Working knowledge of database systems (AWS RDS SQL Server, Oracle RDMBS/RDS).
• Experience with database performance tuning, backup/recovery.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines.
• Familiarity with version control (Git) and CI/CD tools (Git Hub Actions, AWS Code Build, Code Deploy).
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

None required, but advanced certifications (RHE, MCSA, AWS Certified Solutions Architect) are considered a plus.

10+ years; 3+ years with SQL; 3+ years in systems engineering or a related field.

• Electronic Data Interchange X.12 (EDI) Medical Claims (837, 834, 277, etc.).

Master’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, Systems Engineering, or related field.

U.S. Citizenship required. Must qualify for Public Trust (MBI) clearance.
