Mid- ServiceNow Developer

Position requires US Citizenship, Public Trust Personnel Clearance and Advanced Certifications

Mid-Sr. Service Now Developer – We are seeking an experienced developer to join our dynamic team in developing, customizing, and maintaining enterprise-level Service Now applications and workflows. This remote position requires a skilled professional who can translate complex business requirements into robust Service Now solutions while adhering to platform best practices and federal compliance standards.

Location: Work is primarily remote (Candidate needs to be local to Washington, DC Metropolitan Area for occasional meetings)

Clearance: Public Trust clearance required (minimum)

Application Development & Customization

• Design, develop, and implement custom Service Now applications, workflows, and business processes across multiple modules (ITSM, HRSD, ITOM, CSM) in multi-tenant environments
• Create and maintain complex business rules, client scripts, UI policies, script includes, and scheduled jobs while adhering to domain separation best practices
• Develop custom forms, lists, and UI components to enhance user experience and streamline business processes across different organizational domains
• Build and configure Service Now Service Portal pages, widgets, and Employee Center customizations for multi‑tenant architectures

Integration & Automation

• Develop and maintain integrations between Service Now and external systems using REST/SOAP APIs, MID Server, and Integration Hub
• Create automated workflows using Flow Designer, Workflow Editor, and Orchestration capabilities
• Implement data import/export processes using Import Sets, Transform Maps, and ETL operations
• Design and develop real‑time and scheduled integration solutions with enterprise applications
• Build custom web services and API endpoints for third‑party system connectivity

Technical Implementation & Optimization

• Participate in technical design sessions and translate business requirements into technical specifications
• Perform code reviews and ensure adherence to Service Now development best practices and coding standards
• Optimize application performance through efficient scripting, proper indexing, and query optimization
• Implement and maintain automated testing frameworks using ATF (Automated Test Framework)
• Support platform upgrades, testing, and deployment activities using update sets and scoped applications
• Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation including design specifications, code comments, and user guides
• Collaborate with architects, administrators, and business stakeholders to deliver optimal solutions
• Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies including sprint planning, daily standups, and retrospectives
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior developers and team members
• Support troubleshooting and resolution of production issues

Education & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• Minimum 8 years of hands‑on Service Now development experience with demonstrated progression in technical complexity and responsibility
• Minimum 6 years of experience developing in enterprise Service Now environments
• Extensive experience working with multi‑tenant Service Now environments and domain separation architectures
• Strong background in software development with object‑oriented programming principles
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments

Security & Compliance

• Experience working with federal compliance requirements (FedRAMP, FISMA preferred)
• Understanding of security best practices in government environments

Technical Skills

Core Service Now Development

• Extensive experience with Service Now development tools including Business Rules, Client Scripts, UI Policies, Script Includes, and UI Actions in multi‑tenant environments
• Expert knowledge of Service Now data model, tables, relationships, and domain separation architecture
