What you'll do- ‘Eyes on glass’ monitoring of network monitoring tools . Proactively monitor network performance using CLI and network management tools.
- Identify anomalies and take swift action to prevent service degradation.
- Receive inbound calls to the NOC (FE, 3rd parties, suppliers, partners)
- Manage inbound / outbound access requests
- Triage network faults and alerts raised through Comarch / Sev
-O ne / Spark auto-ticketing - Raise Spark tickets and assign / callout appropriate support teams across Group Networks
- Triage fixed network faults . Act as a first responder to network incidents, diagnosing and resolving issues under pressure.
- Execute network repair actions in accordance with established playbooks (esp ecially node faults) . Contribute to the continuous improvement of operational procedures and knowledge bases.
- Monitor change activity and support implementation teams with pre-check / post check activities as required
- Support escalations to Network Reliability Engineering team for non-BAU network faults
- 24/7 operational contact point for network issues and incident co-ordination
- BAU change management co-ordination . Implement routine network changes in line with operational standards and change control processes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure changes are executed smoothly and safely.
- Escalate and coordinate with relevant teams when necessary to ensure timely resolution.
- Maintain accurate records of incidents, resolutions, and changes.
- Provide clear, concise updates during incidents and routine operations.
The ideal candidate will be network engineer possess ing excellent problem‑solving skills and demonstrate a proactive approach to issue resolution. They will be equally comfortable monitoring the network, supporting BAU change and directly resolving incidents using a combination of CLI and network management tools . Effective communication and the ability to remain calm under pressure are essential . A willingness to adapt to evolving technologies and processes within a fast-paced environment is highly valued.
- T echnical understanding of telecoms networks across IP core , access , fixed voice and mobile.
- Hands‑on experience with CLI‑based tools and network management platforms.
- Understanding of the functions and architecture of other network domains (including transmission and CDN)
- Ability to understand the information provided by network monitoring systems and undertake appropriate action to resolve incidents .
- Experience of telecoms change and incident management processes.
- Strong team ethic working in an unpredictable operational environment.
- Solid understanding of IP networking, voice core networks, mobile core networks , signalling protocols, and network troubleshooting.
- Demonstrated ability to remain focused and effective during high‑impact incidents.
- Capable of articulating technical issues to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
Service Reliability team is responsible for the 24/7 running of Sky’s telecoms network . It provides the primary 24/7 service desk for Group Networks routing incident tickets both within the department and to other on‑call support teams within Group Networks . The department is directly responsible for executing playbooks for problem resolution within the Fixed Voice and Mobile network domains .
