Job Title
Data Analyst
Location & FacilityFull time, day shift at 451 Kimball Ave NE, Roanoke, VA (Carilion Medical Center).
OverviewSupports Carilion Clinics data warehouse and reporting initiatives. Works closely with the Business Analyst to translate business workflows into actionable data insights, collaborates with IT to advance data governance and quality programs, and interacts with internal and external stakeholders on data requests and technical requirements.
Responsibilities- Manage multiple, variable tasks and data review processes to support business requests for data from the data warehouse with minimal supervision.
- Analyze and advise on workflow issues and data integrity problems, offering recommendations for resolution.
- Load the data dictionary and business glossary with agreed-upon terms, metadata, definitions, and descriptions.
- Develop reference materials—such as application data relationships and BI data models—for supported data processing technologies, facilitating both online and in-person training of technical staff.
- Manage assigned projects and meet deadlines with moderate supervision.
- Assist Business Analysts with the development of training programs and materials to train end‑users and mentor and develop team members.
- Interface with clients, vendors, and internal teams on multi‑faceted projects involving data intelligence.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, healthcare systems, or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum four years of experience working with enterprise data sources and BI tools in a financial or healthcare environment.
- Experience with dimensional databases, cubes, and columnar data structures preferred.
- Valid Virginia driver’s license and dependable transportation.
- At least one of the following certifications: CBAP, CBIP, CDMP, DGSP.
- Strong organizational, analytical, detail‑oriented, and interpersonal skills.
- Thorough understanding of the 7‑layer OSI model, data profiling, and data quality analysis.
- Experience translating business needs into data architecture specifications and supporting application users.
- Knowledge of Business Objects, Oracle, Cognos, IBM Info Sphere, and IBM data models a plus.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills and customer‑service orientation.
Candidates residing in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Arkansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, West Virginia, and Virginia may qualify for remote work.
