This transition requires the establishment of a robust, future-ready operational and technological infrastructure. As data and digital trust become central to our business, this role is critical, operating at the dynamic intersection of law, technology, and data.

We are seeking a Privacy Officer with a background as a lawyer to be a vital member of our Group Privacy team. Reporting directly to the Privacy Lead, you will be instrumental in building, embedding, and managing a comprehensive privacy framework across our entire organization.

Here is a taster of what you can expect in this role:

Your primary focus will be to translate complex legal and regulatory obligations into practical, commercial business solutions, driving a Privacy by Design culture.

  • Legal Guidance: Provide expert privacy advice and guidance to all business units, including contractual review of privacy/data protection clauses.
  • Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs): Conduct thorough PIAs for new products, processes, and digital initiatives (working closely with Digital and AI teams).
  • Policy & Standards: Develop, draft, and maintain privacy policies, standards, guidelines, and best practices that support compliant business outcomes.
  • Risk Management: Contribute to the implementation and ongoing management of the privacy risk management framework, helping manage and mitigate privacy incidents and/or risks.
  • Privacy by Design: Actively support the integration of Privacy by Design principles into our product and service development life cycles.
  • Training &

    Education:

    Help develop and run privacy training/education sessions and produce engaging content to uplift the group-wide data and privacy culture.
  • Transformation Projects: Contribute to strategic initiatives, including the delivery of projects focused on Responsible Use of Data and enhancing Digital Trust.
  • Collaboration: Forge strong working relationships with key stakeholders across our diverse brands (Dan Murphy's, BWS, ALH), the Legal, Cyber Security, Data and AI teams.
What do we need from you

We are looking for a highly analytical problem‑solver who can apply a risk‑based, commercial approach to complex regulatory challenges.

  • Legal Background (Required): 2 - 4years’ hands‑on legal experience, with a focus on privacy or technology/commercial law, gained within a large organization, leading law firm, or consulting firm.
  • Proven ability in research, analysis, drafting, and communicating succinct, practical, and accurate legal/regulatory advice.
  • Demonstrated capability in drafting and updating complex policies, standards, and guidelines.
  • Ability to apply a risk‑based, commercial approach to problem‑solving, balancing compliance with business objectives.
  • Excellent ability to build and nurture relationships across a diverse business landscape.
