Key Requirements- Candidates must meet all client requirements to qualify for remote.
- They also need to live near a Capital One hub (Chicago, Boston, NYC, Virginia, Texas, etc.).
- Every consultant submitted must have previous leadership experience—no exceptions.
- Must have Financial experience and/or Capital One former. Being a former is not required but they must have experience in the financial/Fintech sector.
- They will not consider anyone currently working as on‑prem/Big Data Developers or Hadoop Developers.
- Candidates must currently be working in the AWS space with experience in Airflow, Databricks, Snowflake, and PySpark.
- Must be located in Capital One core locations:
Chicago, McLean, Richmond, Plano.
- Discover's historical credit card data will be in the Capital One ecosystem in One Stream's One Lake location and these Engineering teams will be responsible for picking the data up, transforming and loading into target state, which could be Snowflake or AWS S3.
- 6 Tech Leads to lead 6 separate Data Engineering teams (Capital One former preferred).
- Tech Leads are accountable for team's work being delivered on time, will lead sprint ceremonies for team, accountable for problem solving with senior managers, must be able to pivot and adapt quickly based on requirements.
- AWS (EMR/Glue, S3, Lambda, Cloudwatch), Python/Java, Spark, Databricks, SQL, Bash.
- Python for scripting, building new data pipelines (not app dev).
- Data warehousing experience (Snowflake).
- APIs.
- Agile engineering practices & JIRA usage.
- Kafka, Airflow, Open Table formats (Delta, Hudi, Iceberg), Splunk, New Relic, Github, Jenkins, prior Capital One experience highly preferred.
Large scale project related to Capital One's acquisition of Discover.
Business Drivers/Customer ImpactDFS data migration effort – Capital One is undertaking a critical data migration initiative to ingest all historical Discover Card data into its internal systems. While the data already resides within the Capital One ecosystem, the challenge lies in efficiently ingesting it into its target state, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and usability across platforms. This migration is an enterprise imperative to enable downstream analytics, compliance, and operational continuity using DFS data.
Success requires tight coordination across engineering, data governance, and platform teams to minimize disruption and maximize business value.
