OverviewWe’re looking for a BI Engineer who thrives on solving complex data challenges and delivering solutions that empower decision‑making to join our growing Data & Analytics team.
In this role, you’ll be responsible for designing and managing data architecture, building scalable pipelines, and transforming data into accurate, usable views. You’ll work across a range of data sources from CRM and digital to social and research and use tools like Big Query, DBT, and Git Hub to implement and maintain a robust data platform for clients and internal usage.
You’ll also play a key role in enabling organisational change, collaborating with senior stakeholders and helping drive Gemba’s thought leadership in the 1st‑party data and analytics space.
Responsibilities- Data Architecture & Engineering
- Conduct architecture reviews and recommend scalable, secure solutions
- Build and maintain data pipelines, cloud‑based workflows, and integrations
- Connect and manage data across multiple sources, ensuring accuracy and integrity
- Create data models that support performance tracking, fan engagement and advanced analytics
- Use platforms like Azure, GCP, Git, DBT, Airflow and Cloud Run
- Collaboration & Communication:
Work closely with Data Analytics, Insights and Engineer teams to support client delivery - Document technical processes clearly and regularly
- Partner with internal and client stakeholders to deliver scalable BI solutions
- 4+ years’ experience in BI, data engineering or analytics roles
- Strong technical capability in Python, SQL, and Git Hub
- Experience with cloud platforms (particularly Google Cloud Platform)
- Tertiary qualifications in computer science, mathematics, engineering, or a related field
- Experience in agency or fast‑paced environments
- Experience managing technical debt and automation workflows
- A passion for sport, entertainment and shaping data infrastructure
- Proficient in building and optimising data pipelines
- Experience in data visualisation and analytics using SQL, Power
BI, or Looker - Familiarity with cloud‑native tools (e.g. GCP, AWS Lambda, Google Cloud Functions, Azure etc)
- Deep understanding of data quality, governance and version control
- Scalable BI infrastructure that supports insight‑led decision making
- Robust infrastructure orchestration and management
- Strong internal and client relationships built on trust, clarity and delivery
