This is an excellent opportunity for a SQL Developer to design and develop core database systems behind financial trading applications that support high-net-worth clients and investment operations for a global investment management company

This SQL Developer position is 100% remote offering between R750K – R800K

THE COMPANY

A Global Independent INVESTMENT MANAGEMENT Company headquartered in London, with offices in South Africa. They provide a range of investment services to private clients, financial intermediaries, and institutions globally; and engineer Financial Trading Applications for the market – the tech team you will join are experts in designing and developing global Fin Tech products.

THE ROLE

As a Junior SQL Developer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining database systems that support live financial trading applications. You will be responsible for writing complex SQL queries to retrieve, manipulate, and optimize data, ensuring integrity, accuracy, and performance across systems.

You’ll be part of a collaborative environment, working closely with other developers and business stakeholders to meet evolving data requirements. Key responsibilities include designing and optimizing SQL databases, creating and maintaining database schemas, writing high-performance queries, and troubleshooting live data issues across trading systems.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Database design: Creating database schemas, tables, views, and stored procedures to effectively store and access data.

SQL query development: Writing complex SQL queries to retrieve, manipulate, and analyse data from databases.

Database optimization: Identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks, optimizing queries for efficient data retrieval.

Data integrity maintenance: Ensuring data consistency and accuracy through validation checks and data cleansing processes.

Database administration: Managing database users, permissions, backups, and recovery procedures.

Troubleshooting: Identifying and resolving database-related issues, including errors and data inconsistencies.

THE REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science or related discipline

At least 3 years’ experience

SQL query development:
Writing complex SQL queries to retrieve, manipulate, and analyse data from databases.

Database design knowledge:
Ability to create and maintain schemas, tables, stored procedures, views, and functions

Data integrity and validation skills:
Familiarity with techniques to ensure accurate and reliable data
