This will be a hybrid role so working between your home office and our Vienna VA location.
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal IT Systems Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of IT systems, excellent problem-solving abilities, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively. This role is focused on managing and securing our IT systems, both on-premises and in the cloud, following federal standards (CMMC, DFARS, NISPOM).
This position handles day-to-day system management, technical support, and compliance tasks.
- Maintain core IT Systems:
Exchange, Active Directory, VPN gateways, Intune. - Administer and manage Microsoft 365 (including Entra ) & Azure Gov environments, ensuring optimal performance and security.
- Oversee account lifecycle management and endpoint provisioning (MAC and Windows), management, encryption and backups. Provide advanced (Tier 2/3) support and troubleshoot technical issues for internal teams.
- Conduct endpoint compliance monitoring across SCCM, Automox, Intune, Jamf and Entra
ID. - Support maintaining compliance with CMMC Level II/III, DFARS, and NIST SP 800-171 requirements.
- Execute technical controls identified in the System Security Plan (SSP) and Plan of Action & Milestones (POA&M).
- Enforce access controls, MFA, encryption, patching, and assist with audits and documentation.
- Provide cloud expertise in Azure, supporting cloud-based solutions and infrastructure.
- Develop and implement automated solutions to streamline IT processes and improve operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of IT systems and solutions.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in IT systems engineering or a related role.
- Strong knowledge and proven experience with Microsoft 365 administration, including Entra Intune.
- Background in federal contractor or compliance-focused settings.
- Good understanding of compliance standards.
- Proficiency with collaboration tools such as email, SharePoint, and Teams.
- Strong knowledge of identity management systems including Active Directory and Entra .
- Strong knowledge of Windows server administration.
- Expertise on cloud platforms (preferably Azure).
- Experience with automation tools and scripting (e.g., Power Shell, Ansible, Terraform).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
- U.S. citizenship due to being in our Federal business unit.
- Must be eligible to obtain or maintain a U.S. security clearance.
- Certifications in relevant technologies (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, Microsoft
365 Certified: Administrator Expert) are a plus.
- Experience with hybrid identity management and migration.
- Knowledge of email protection mechanisms.
- Working knowledge of virtualization technologies.
- Familiarity with ITIL best practices.
Base Salary Range: $117,229- $144,812
This position is also eligible to participate in our performance-based annual corporate bonus plan. Final base compensation is determined by a number of factors, including but not limited to job-related skills, education, demonstrable experience, and allowance for future and continued salary growth.
