A Senior Engineer participates in cross-functional initiatives as an engineer. They strive for efficiency, develop and evangelize process improvements, and assist in streamlining cross-team collaboration. They understand the department s organizational structure and drive consensus among necessary parties to get results. A Senior Engineer is a technical leader with impact beyond a single team.
Responsibilities- Lead by example and drive engineering best practices
- Write high-quality, maintainable, reliable, and performant code
- Advocate for improvements to product quality, security, and performance across the team; identify opportunities to improve code, development processes, and tooling
- Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and support to junior engineers
- Participate in code reviews, architectural discussions, and technical documentation
- Identify, prioritize and break down work in the software development lifecycle with Engineering Manager and Product Owner
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to streamline development workflows
- Discuss scope, timelines, and priorities with stakeholders, presenting options (good/better/best)
- Analyze and troubleshoot complex technical issues, proposing and implementing best practices
KPIs: continuous delivery, DORA metrics
- Manage and collaborate with key stakeholders
- Collaborate with Product Managers, Designers, and other stakeholders to define high-level system requirements
- Partner with Architecture and Engineering leaders to align solutions with the Technology Vision, Standards, and Best Practices; represent architecture on the delivery team
- Lead data-driven process improvements related to DORA metrics, overall efficiency, and health of the systems the team supports
- Ensure Jellyvision s values and standards are followed at the team level and pursue continuous improvement
KPIs are team roadmap, technical vision/architecture
Experience & skills you ll need- 6+ years as a software engineer in a SaaS environment, with at least 3 years in a Senior role
- Affinity for modern software development practices (daily deployments, robust CI/CD, test-driven development, feature flagging, etc.)
- Proven high-level individual contributor capable of guiding the team to success
- Experience with FastAPI and Python, with deep understanding of asynchronous programming
- Experience with Snowflake and Looker
- Experience with Datadog for monitoring and logging
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools and practices
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure
- Experience integrating and managing APIs using an iPaaS platform (e.g., Mule Soft, Workato, or similar)
- Experience with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes)
- Strong experience with microservices and event-driven architectures
Nice to have:
- Familiarity with industry-standard APIs and data formats used in benefits administration (e.g., HIPAA 834, HIPAA 820, HL7 FHIR)
- Experience with real-time data processing frameworks (Apache Kafka, AWS Kinesis)
- Deep understanding of benefits administration domain (enrollment, eligibility, billing, compliance)
- Knowledge of security measures and HIPAA compliance

Remote - Starting Salary
: $145,000 - $165,000
