Lead Developer – Word Press

Team Updraft is a world‑leading Word Press plugin developer, best known for Updraft Plus, one of the most popular Word Press plugins in use by more than five million sites.

We are looking for an experienced Lead Developer who can build and maintain high‑quality Word Press plugins and lead a small, global team of developers.

$40,000.00/yr – $75,000.00/yr

Fully remote position. Work 32–40 hours per week with at least 4 hours of overlap with UK working hours each day.

• Write clean, efficient, and secure code in PHP, JavaScript, and Word Press libraries.
• Line‑manage the plugin development team, ensuring tasks are appropriately assigned, reviewed, and completed.
• Maintain high technical standards in the code base.
• Utilise the lead architect’s knowledge to guide the plugin’s direction.
• Identify priorities and resolve blockers.
• Serve as the key point of contact for technical queries related to the plugin.
• Liaise with QA and Product Managers to align development work with wider business goals.

Exact responsibilities may vary depending on experience and team needs.

• Extensive experience developing Word Press plugins in PHP.
• Strong knowledge of JavaScript and full‑stack web development.
• Proven ability to manage and mentor other developers.
• Experience working with key stakeholders and product teams.

• Fully remote work from anywhere, with flexible hours.
• Option to work from a co‑working space in Newport, Wales (UK based).
