Hybrid Role: This role is hybrid, with an established schedule of in-person work required at an assigned work location. Any remote work is expected to be performed from an employee’s primary residence, unless allowed (or prohibited) through the Company’s remote work guidelines.

Emergency Response: Yes – Must be available to perform a primary assignment in support of DTE’s emergency response to storms or other events that impact service to our customers.

Job Summary

Entry-level professional Human Resources (HR) job that entails exposure or assignments across a broad range of HR areas. As part of a dynamic HR organization, is responsible for carrying out a variety of activities and assisting in day-to-day administration of HR policies and programs in one or more of the following areas: business partner, staffing, employee and labor relations, compensation and benefits, training, performance management, benchmarking, diversity and inclusion.

May support assigned business unit (BU) clients in their application of HR policies and initiatives, or assist senior-level HR staff in these activities. Works in accordance with existing policies and procedures, or specific instructions, but takes on assignments entailing judgment and/or discretion to select from, or recommend alternative approaches. Span of control = 0: this is an individual contributor job.

Key

Accountabilities
  • Acts as a partner to formulate HR-related plans that are consistent with the company and BU s core values, mission and vision.
  • Collaborates with HR team and other staff to assist with plans to address business needs, executes initiatives and ongoing activities.
  • Assists with the appropriate use of the HR service delivery model, policy and guidelines.
  • Assists HR team with coaching leaders and employees through employee related matters.
  • May assist with managing the design and implementation of temporary programs (i.e., Co-ops, interns, summer students, etc.) and/or with screening external candidates based on job relevant criteria.
  • Solicits guidance and advice from senior-level HR staff, as needed, to ensure that appropriate recommendations and actions are carried out in accordance with company and BU needs.
Minimum Education & Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree, or obtaining degree within six months from application (verification of degree receipt will be required prior to starting).
  • Six (6) months of HR-related experience (e.g labor relations, staffing, employee relations, compensation and benefits, organizational development, etc)
Other Qualifications

Preferred

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources-related disciplines, e.g, Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Industrial Psychology, etc (excludes human and social services disciplines)

Other Requirements

  • Proficient oral and written communication, and presentation skills with the ability to communicate clearly, credibly and confidently.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills consistent with the ability to identify key issues from a broad range of alternatives, and recommend optimal solutions for various situations.
