Job Overview
As an HR Intern at Hamilton County, you will contribute to the work of the Human Resources Department, which supports the employees who serve the Hamilton County community every day. This position provides practical, hands‑on experience across several HR functions and the opportunity to assist with projects that improve operations, enhance employee resources, and support the County’s workforce. The internship offers an introduction to public service and the role effective human resources practices play in a public‑sector environment.

Cincinnati, Ohio
- Flexible and potential hybrid work-from-home option
- Starting pay: $15.00/hour
- Ohio Public Employee Retirement System, which includes a 14% employer contribution and a defined benefit option
Job Duties
- Assists with a variety of HR projects that may support all areas of the HR department—recruitment, onboarding, employee engagement, employee development, HR systems, labor and employee relations, risk management, policy management, benefits and wellbeing, and other initiatives. Helps update employee‑facing resources, compile information, and prepare draft materials or summaries. Conducts basic research and supports project tracking and implementation activities.
- Assists with organizing and maintaining HR data, records, and documents to support daily operations. Helps review information for accuracy, organize electronic files, and maintain tracking tools and spreadsheets. Provides general administrative and project support to the HR team by preparing materials, organizing information, and supporting assigned tasks while maintaining confidentiality.
- Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance.
- Performs other duties as needed.
- Enrolled in a degree program in Human Resources, Public Administration, or a related field
Minimal exposure to ergonomic risks associated with prolonged sitting, computer use, and repetitive motions; occasional exposure to typical office hazards such as slips, trips, or minor equipment issues.
Work Location and Hours- 138 East Court St., Cincinnati, Ohio 45202
- 20‑hour work week, generally between core hours of 7:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
