, BC. The company is looking for a new Payroll Manager who will lead a team of 4 over a large payroll of more than 3,000 employees across Canada. This company has a very caring and values‑based culture.
Our client was established decades ago and has evolved to become one of the largest in their industry in Canada. The company has been growing by leaps and bounds—both organically and via acquisitions. Many of their employees have been with the company for 10 years or more, which speaks volumes about the organization’s values and commitment to people and customers. In the last several years, the organization has undertaken major business and digital transformations.
What‑the Role
On behalf of our client, SWIM is seeking a new Payroll Manager
. The manager reports to a senior HR leader and leads a payroll team of 4 that processes payroll for 3,000 employees across almost all Canadian provinces. The team uses a sophisticated, well‑configured payroll system that enables well‑automated payroll cycles, extensive Excel analysis and reporting, and industry‑specific software. A small commission payroll (paid out quarterly) has a more manual component due to commission calculation.

We are looking for a well‑rounded payroll leader with at least 8 years of progressive experience in payroll, including at least 3 years in people management.
- Experience leading a team that processes a payroll of 1,000+ employees.
- Multi‑provincial payroll experience—more provinces is better. Exposure to US or international payroll is an asset but not required.
- Experience using a sophisticated payroll system such as Workday, Ceridian Dayforce, ADP Workforce Now, SAP Success Factors, Oracle HCM, etc.
- Proficiency in Excel and ability to use Excel for payroll analysis and payroll reporting.
- Experience with payroll integration after an acquisition of a new company is an asset.
- Excellent leadership, coaching, and mentorship abilities, with experience directly leading teams of 2 to 6 direct reports.
- PCP and/or CPM certification highly preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills are important in this role.
- Collaborative, self‑motivated, friendly, kind, and ethical.

How MuchBase salary commensurate with payroll work experience and qualifications, likely in the range of $108,00 to $128,000

HYBRID
. The company is headquartered in Surrey and the Payroll Manager will work from the beautiful head office 2 days a week, with the option to work from home up to 3 days a week. Very close to a Sky Train station, as well as various bus lines.
