Overview
Reporting into the group HRD this role is an ideal position for a confident, experienced, operationally driven HR Officer who enjoys a busy generalist HR role and is strong in day‑to‑day HR with a solid ER background. This is a great opportunity for an experienced operational HR Officer looking for a busy HR role involved in all key areas of HR, offering autonomy and the chance to make your mark, working as part of a strong wider HR team for a highly successful established organisation experiencing considerable growth through acquisition and offering a real opportunity to get involved in wider HR projects and support Group HR.
BriefDescription of the job
The HR Advisor will support people processes covering various elements across the entire employee life cycle. Full responsibility for general HR queries as the first point of contact, working closely with site managers and employees, providing HR support and advice especially around disciplinaries and investigations (including dismissal), absence management, grievances and capability issues, performance management, training/development, policies, end‑to‑end recruitment (drafting adverts, advertising, managing the ATS system, interviewing, overseeing compliance and GDPR, onboarding, inductions) and all HR‑related issues.
The HR Advisor will be responsible for ensuring accurate and up‑to‑date HRIS information, compliance around confidentiality and GDPR, and proper data storage. The role also includes analysing data and creating reports, management information for HR and operational dashboards, as well as creating and delivering training sessions on HR‑related topics presented to line managers. Some travel to other local sites is required as and when needed.
The Person Specification- CIPD 5.
- At least 2 years HR Officer / HR Advisor experience in a busy, fast‑moving working environment – ideally manufacturing, FMCG, logistics/distribution or similar.
- Strong ER (employee relations) background.
- Excellent employment law knowledge.
- Experience of TUPE, change management, organisational change and succession planning.
- Previous experience working with and coaching site stakeholders such as Operational Managers and Line Managers.
- A true operational HR generalist with excellent generalist HR knowledge.
- Previous role in a similar HR position.
- Excellent attention to detail, strong communication skills and the ability to prioritise work effectively.
- Strong interpersonal skills, good coaching experience and the ability to deliver training.
- Previous travel to different sites and willingness to continue traveling as required.
- Strong HR admin background, proficient with systems, data management and IT skills (organised and confidential).
- Capability to work independently in a busy, pressurised environment.
- Problem‑solving skills, initiative, energy and a proactive attitude – able to hit the ground running and make a difference.
- Motivation to participate in wider HR projects such as organisational change, TUPE, succession planning and alignment.
- A strong team player who works well as part of a wider HR team.
- “Can‑do” attitude, idea generation, problem‑solving mindset and readiness to “muck in” with the team.
- Salary: £35,000 – £38,000 plus benefits.
