Learning & Development Consultant

Position Overview

The Learning & Development (L&D) Consultant supports the design, development, and delivery of learning programs that enhance employee capability, leadership effectiveness, and business performance. This role partners with HR and business leaders in our home office and the field to identify learning needs and implement practical solutions aligned with organizational priorities.

The Consultant works closely with the Director of L&D and contributes to content creation, facilitation, and program coordination across technical, leadership, and compliance training initiatives while helping maintain learning tools and resources.

The L&D Consultant will be expected to learn and understand Asplundh’s complex business model, cultivate internal partnerships, and collaborate across functions to design solutions that optimize performance. This role offers the opportunity to manage development initiatives at scale and requires close partnership with business leaders and human resources partners. The ideal candidate will be passionate and experienced in learning and development, learning design and evaluation, adult development, and facilitation.

Key Responsibilities

Learning Design & Delivery (40%)

  • Design and develop engaging learning materials, including instructor-led, virtual, and self-paced content.
  • Facilitate training sessions and workshops for employees and leaders as needed.
  • Support implementation of leadership development and skills-based programs.
  • Analyze results and identify gaps in training needs.
  • Conduct comprehensive needs analysis to ensure that training fulfills the needs and objectives of the company. Stay current with industry trends and advancements in learning and development.

Program Support & Coordination (25%)

  • Coordinate logistics for training programs, including scheduling, communications, and materials.
  • Assist with program rollout and stakeholder communication across business units.
  • Track participation, completion, and feedback metrics.

Learning Systems & Continuous Improvement (15%)

  • Maintain learning content and resources within the Learning Management System (Brainier).
  • Support reporting and basic analysis of training effectiveness and engagement.
  • Recommend improvements based on feedback and business needs.
  • Contribute to the overall success of the Learning & Development Dept. by identifying ways to continuously improve the learning process.

Business Partnership (20%)

  • Collaborate with HR Business Partners and leaders to understand learning needs.
  • Provide practical recommendations aligned with organizational goals and workforce priorities.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Education, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3–5 years of experience in learning & development, training, or talent development.
  • Experience designing or delivering training programs or learning content.
  • Familiarity with adult learning principles and instructional design fundamentals.
  • Experience working with an LMS or learning technology platforms preferred.
  • Experience working with eLearning tools such as Articulate, Camtasia,
  • Ability to manage changing priorities, meet deadlines and adapt to a changing business environment.
  • Experience in large, fast-paced, complex organization is a plus. Strong communication, organization, and facilitation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Willingness and ability to travel as required for training delivery and departmental support (25%).
