Overview
Payroll Specialist —
Location:
Red Bank, NJ (Onsite, with 1 day working from home). Our client is seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to support a high-volume, multi-state payroll environment. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented payroll professional with strong system expertise and the ability to manage complex payroll processes while partnering closely with HR and Finance.
- Process a weekly payroll cycle for approximately 1,500 hourly and salaried employees
- Utilize ADP and UKG payroll systems to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing
- Ensure accurate processing, reconciliation, and recordkeeping of multi-state payroll
- Create and deliver ad-hoc wage and management reports
, including workers compensation reporting - Administer and validate payroll deductions, including benefits, garnishments, and other employee contributions
- Assist with year-end payroll activities
, including W-2 preparation and distribution - Research and resolve escalated payroll issues and discrepancies in a timely manner
- Analyze payroll data and investigate variances prior to payroll processing to ensure accuracy
- Support HR and Finance with reporting, analysis, and special payroll-related projects
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations
- Bachelor s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field
- 3-5 years of payroll experience
, preferably in a large, multi-state payroll environment - Extensive knowledge of payroll operations, including preparation, balancing, internal controls, and payroll taxes
- Hands-on experience with ADP and UKG payroll systems (required)
- Strong working knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll tax requirements
- Proven ability to manage confidential information with discretion and accuracy
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Experience supporting payroll for a high-volume employee population
- Ability to work independently while collaborating cross-functionally
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time-management skills
