Role Overview: The People & Culture Compliance Specialist ensures that One App s People & Culture operations stay consistent, clean, compliant, and ready for scale. You will bring clarity, structure, and follow through to our HR processes while making sure we are aligned with employment laws, maintaining strong documentation, and supporting our team with systems that work.

This role is the backbone of compliance within a high growth, mission driven organization. You will not just help us follow the rules. You will make it easier for our team to do their best work while protecting the company and the people who power it.

Key Responsibilities
  • Regulatory Awareness and Risk Prevention
  • Keep a pulse on federal, state, and local employment law changes
  • Flag risks early and help the team understand what needs to change and why
  • Maintain compliance calendars and ensure we meet all required deadlines
  • Policies and Process Support
  • Update and maintain HR policies, handbook sections, and internal procedures
  • Make sure our guidelines are clear, accessible, and aligned with our values
  • Help create workflows that keep everyone on the same page
  • Documentation and Recordkeeping
  • Keep employee files and digital documentation accurate and audit ready
  • Manage I-9 compliance, onboarding records, and separation documentation
  • Conduct routine audits to ensure nothing slips through the cracks
  • Training and Team Education
  • Track and coordinate mandatory compliance trainings
  • Support managers by explaining policies and required steps in a clear way
  • Help create templates and guides that make compliance easy to understand
  • HRIS Accuracy and Data Integrity
  • Audit employee data across our HR systems to ensure consistency
  • Support accurate workflows for onboarding, status changes, and offboarding
  • Partner with HR, Finance, and IT to keep systems aligned
  • Investigations and Sensitive Documentation
  • Maintain secure, organized records related to employee relations matters
  • Support HR leadership with documentation, timelines, and compliance requirements
  • Multi State Expansion Support
  • Research requirements as One App expands into new states
  • Build state specific checklists and ensure we are ready before hiring begins
  • Work with the HR team to update policies, notices, and templates
Qualifications & Criteria
  • 3 to 5 years in HR compliance, HR operations, or HR generalist work
  • Strong understanding of employment laws including FLSA, ADA, FMLA, EEOC, and state and local requirements
  • Comfort working with confidential and sensitive information
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail
  • A clear communicator who can translate rules into human language
  • Someone who thrives in a high growth, mission driven environment
  • Experience supporting multi state HR operations
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally
