SummaryAs Team Lead, Payroll Operations, you’ll take on a player‑coach role, managing a team of Payroll Specialists while actively supporting payroll execution across multiple customers and entities in South Africa. You will drive process improvements, maintain vendor and stakeholder relationships, and serve as a subject‑matter expert for payroll compliance and accuracy.
Responsibilities- Process payroll for assigned customers and provide guidance to team members as a subject‑matter expert
- Lead a team of Payroll Specialists to ensure timely and compliant payroll delivery
- Implement and maintain payroll policies, procedures, and controls
- Analyze payroll data to identify areas for improvement and drive process enhancements
- Deliver training and communication to internal teams to ensure understanding of payroll processes
- Manage relationships with payroll vendors and tax authorities to ensure timely filings and payments
- 5+ years of experience processing payroll for multiple entities
- Strong working knowledge of local payroll and HR regulations in South Africa
- Experience with local payroll systems and vendor management
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem‑solving skills
- Experience working cross‑functionally
- Bonus for people management experience
