Lead the executive‑level HR work for Pet Smart Canada, partnering with the President of Canada, the Canada Home Office, and the Canada Regional Vice President to deliver people‑centric solutions that drive business outcomes. The role focuses on talent, organizational development, change management, program design, and culture transformation to support Pet Smart’s strategy and growth in Canada.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Provide strategic HR support to senior leaders and the Canada field region, guiding talent, organizational change, engagement and associate relations.
Analyze business strategy and translate it into HR initiatives—organisational design, succession, talent acquisition, and performance planning.
Coach and counsel leaders on organisational & developmental matters including structure, process, and change management.
Create business cases, metrics, and justifications to secure and communicate HR programs.
Champion cultural transformation to create an inclusive, progressive workplace.
Collaborate with other HR partners and shared resources to share best practices and scale solutions.
Maintain accurate employee data, headcount, and payroll information.
Facilitate development and team‑building sessions for new and existing leaders.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Business or a related field (preferred).
5‑10 years of experience supporting executive‑level stakeholders in an HR generalist capacity.
Equivalent combinations of education and experience may satisfy the minimum requirements.
Technical Skills
Business partnership and strategic thinking with measurable results.
Expertise in talent management, performance management, and organisational development.
Strong prioritisation, negotiation, and conflict‑resolution skills.
Analytical ability to use HR metrics for goal‑setting and strategy.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills across all levels of the organisation.
Knowledge of Canadian employment law and industry trends.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Certifications
CHRP or CHRL certificate preferred.

Additional Job Considerations
Hybrid work: a minimum of four days in the Canada Home Office, with one remote flex day permitted with manager approval.
