Reporting to the Leadership Advisory Services Lead, the Human Resource Advisor serves as a trusted partner and consultant to business leaders, providing guidance on day-to-day HR matters. Acting as a liaison between the business and the People, Safety, Health & Wellness team, the Advisor supports the implementation of HR programs and services, promotes enterprise initiatives, and shares business insights to ensure alignment between people strategies and organizational objectives.
As the first point of contact for leaders across the enterprise, the Advisor fosters a culture of engagement and positive employee relations, while coaching and advising leaders to enhance workforce performance, organizational effectiveness, and change management. The Human Resource Advisor proactively identifies patterns and root causes of HR issues, recommends and implements solutions, and takes preventative action to mitigate future risks.
- Provide consultative advice and expertise to leaders on HR matters, including performance management, employee engagement, policy interpretation, and collective agreement application.
- Maintain effective communication with line management, bargaining groups, and HR teams to resolve issues collaboratively.
- Champion enterprise programs within the Center of Excellence model, leveraging subject matter expertise as needed.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of HR systems, processes, and practices.
- Ensure HR matters are managed in compliance with legal and organizational requirements.
- Proactively identify trends and recurring issues, analyze root causes, and develop and implement effective solutions.
- Maintain accurate HR documentation and records.
- Review and analyze HR reports to provide actionable insights.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with client groups.
- Support leaders with accommodation matters and liaise with Occupational Health, Wellness & Disability services.
- Partner with Labour Relations to support grievance resolution, arbitration processes, and respectful workplace discussions.
- Support organizational change initiatives and enterprise priorities within the business.
- A Business Degree (HR Major) from an institute of recognized standing and a minimum of three years of related human resources experience; OR
- Two year Diploma (HR major) and a minimum of five years of related human resources experience; OR
- An equivalent combination of post-secondary education and experience may be considered.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience with collective agreements, policies and practices, wage and salary administration, job evaluation system and other related human resource processes.
- Proven interpersonal skills with the demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships at various levels within the Corporation, as well as with external agencies.
- A working knowledge of human resource systems and software, experience with SAP would be considered an asset.
- Working knowledge of current labour legislation, human resource trends and human resource best practices.
- Excellent communication, coaching, and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Possess initiative with the ability to conduct research and analysis.
- Remains current with human resource issues through membership in human resource associations, attendance at conferences and seminars, and reviewing human resource literature.
- A Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation or equivalent would be an asset.
Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The range for the classification is $40.44-$55.99 Hourly, $77,500.02-$ Annually.
