Overview
Do you have a strong background in HR administration and employee relations? We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced HR & Employee Relations Assistant to join our team on a fixed term basis until 31st October 2026, delivering first-class Employee Relations support. As our HR & Employee Relations Assistant
, you’ll support managers and colleagues across the Group with employment and wellbeing issues, ensuring alignment with our Group's Policies and Procedures.
- Act as the first point of contact, providing accurate and timely advice to managers and colleagues.
- Ensure compliance with legal requirements and best practice; escalate more complex issues to the ER Specialists.
- Assist managers with stage one absence meetings, family leave & flexible working requests, and probation reviews; support the Employment Relations Specialist.
- Coordinate meetings and associated paperwork in collaboration with respective managers, meeting chairs, and ER specialists.
- Assist the ER Specialist with complex ER investigations, including note taking and preparation of materials related to case work.
- Accurately maintain employee records and associated correspondence, ensuring changes align with the payroll cycle.
- Review weekly HR management information reports (e.g., absence) and, where action is needed, work with the ER Specialist to take action.
- Previous experience in a HR support role with exposure to employee relations casework is essential.
- Experience coordinating meetings, managing documentation, and providing administrative assistance such as note taking and formulating outcome letters and related correspondence.
- Experience working with HRIS systems to manage colleague data and employment records; previous use of iTrent is advantageous.
- Excellent ICT skills (Word, Excel) with high attention to detail in administration and system work.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact effectively with colleagues in individual or group settings.
- Proactive and adaptable approach with the ability to prioritise tasks, manage competing demands, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience maintaining employee records and completing colleague contractual changes in line with monthly payroll deadlines.
While this role is home-based, you must be able to travel regularly to our Group offices located at Birmingham Business Park, Solihull, and Central Park, Worcester.
Role title and durationPlease note that the formal job title for this role is Employee Relations Assistant and it is a fixed-term maternity cover until 31st October 2026.
