Payroll Specialist

Description We are looking for an experienced Payroll Specialist to join our team on a contract basis in Redwood City, California. In this dynamic role, you will play a key part in managing payroll-related tasks, ensuring accuracy, and addressing employee inquiries. This position requires someone who thrives in fast-paced environments and can work onsite most days, with the potential for occasional remote work after training.

Responsibilities:

- Respond to employee inquiries regarding termination checks, pay discrepancies, and garnishments.

- Direct and coordinate payroll-related tasks to ensure smooth operations and timely issue resolution.

- Collaborate with internal teams to address payroll concerns and provide accurate information.

- Utilize payroll systems such as ADP Workforce Now and Ceridian Dayforce to support payroll functions.

- Assist with weekly and bi-weekly payroll processes as needed.

- Ensure compliance with union regulations and other payroll requirements.

- Maintain clear communication using tools like Slack for internal coordination.

- Adapt to a dynamic environment and contribute to ongoing testing efforts.

- Demonstrate initiative and problem-solving skills to manage challenges effectively. Requirements - Minimum of 5 years of experience in payroll or related roles.

- Proficiency in payroll systems such as ADP Workforce Now, Ceridian Dayforce, or similar.

- Strong understanding of accounting and auditing principles.

- Familiarity with union payroll regulations and 401k administration.

- Ability to work independently and adapt to a fast-paced environment.

- Excellent communication skills and the ability to ask questions to clarify tasks.

- Detail-oriented with a proactive attitude to resolve issues.

- Comfortable handling multiple priorities in a dynamic workplace.
