SCSC Beverage Manager (Project Management)
The Santa Cruz Seaside Company Beverage Manager oversees all beverage operations across the company's businesses including the Beach Boardwalk, Grove Events Center, Boardwalk Bowl and lodging properties. This role will ensure high standards of quality, service, and profitability as it relates to Beverage purchasing and service. This role is responsible for managing bar and beverage outlets, developing drink menus, controlling inventory and costs, and ensuring compliance with health, safety, and licensing regulations.
The Beverage Manager assists in training bar staff, collaborates with culinary and F&B leadership teams, and works to enhance guest satisfaction through innovative beverage offerings and exceptional service. Strong leadership, financial acumen, and knowledge of industry trends are essential to drive revenue and maintain the Seaside company's brand standards.
This is an on-site position, remote work will not be allowed.
ResponsibilitiesUnique Job Requirements
This is a unique opportunity to join the Boardwalk's great Guest Service Team. Must provide exceptional Guest Service by acknowledging and greeting all Guests and exemplify outstanding service to our Guests by owning the key Guest Service Principles:
Smile, Welcome, Eye Contact, Lift the Experience and Leave them Well.
Must be able to maintain high Beverage safety standards and requires a team-oriented manager who can coordinate operations between various food service & beverage operations and departments in a fast-paced environment. Assures that staff provide consistent, friendly, and helpful service to employees and guests. Must be able to work flexible shifts 7 days per week between 6:00AM and 3:00AM. Shifts generally include working Saturday and Sunday with days off during the week.
Must provide exceptional guest service. Must maintain excellent communications with supervisors, managers and staff. Carries a pager and/or radio.
Must obtain a Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) certification and either a CA Food Handler card or Serv Safe certification within 30 days of hire, or show proof of existing CA Food Handler card and/or Serv Safe Manager certification.
QualificationsTraining and Experience
At least two years experience as a manager in a high volume beverage environment, experience in inventory control and pour cost calculations.
Knowledge,
Skills and Abilities
Oversee daily beverage operations across all of Santa Cruz Seaside Company including the Beach Boardwalk, Grove Events Center, Boardwalk Bowl and lodging properties.
In collaboration with Bar managers, develop, design, and update beverage menus, including cocktails, wine, beer, and non-alcoholic offerings.
Manage inventory control, ordering, receiving, storage, and stock rotation to minimize waste and control costs.
Monitor beverage cost percentages, analyze sales reports, and implement strategies to improve profitability.
Ensure compliance with health, safety, sanitation, and liquor licensing regulations.
Assist in recruiting, training, and supervising bartenders and beverage staff.
Set service standards and ensure consistent guest experience across all beverage outlets.
Coordinate with Food & beverage and Events leadership on menu pairings, promotions, and special events.
Negotiate with suppliers and distributors to secure quality products and competitive pricing.
Conduct regular audits of bar operations, cash handling, and inventory.
Handle guest feedback and resolve service issues promptly and professionally.
Plan and execute beverage promotions, tastings, and seasonal offerings.
Maintain cleanliness, organization, and equipment maintenance and functionality of all beverage service areas.
Stay current with beverage trends, mixology techniques, and industry innovations.
Ability to effectively use proper lifting techniques and safe working practices.
Physical RequirementsAble to move and lift equipment and products weighing up to 50 pounds.
Able to stand and walk up to 8 hours per day and walk up and down stairs.
