Job Title - Assistant Event Sales Team Manager
Department - Sales
Contract Type – Permanent – Full Time
Rate of Pay - £33,000 per annum
Location - Celtic Manor Resort, Newport, NP18 1HQ
We are seeking a detail‑driven, client‑focused Assistant Sales Team Manager to support our hotel’s Event Sales team daily. In this role, you will ensureour Event Sales Executives deliver exceptional service, consistent high standards, and accurate proposals for meetings, conferences, weddings, andsocial events. You will be the key driver of quality, efficiency, and smooth communication across the sales function - helping protect our hotel’sreputation for excellence at every stage of the client journey.
Key Responsibilities- Act as the first point of contact for Event Sales Executives needing support with enquiries, proposals, site visits or HR related queries.
- Assist with monitoring incoming leads, enquiry responses, and daily priorities to ensure timely follow-up and smooth workflow.
- Provide real‑time coaching and mentoring during busy periods or complex client scenarios - without the need for formal people management responsibilities.
- Review and quality‑check all event proposals, contracts, and Banqueting Event Orders (BEOs) for accuracy, clarity, and brand alignment.
- Ensure all client communication meets hotel standards for tone, professionalism, and guest service excellence.
- Conduct regular checks on response times to enquiries, accuracy of pricing, packages, revenues and availability, CRM data completeness and accuracy.
- Identify gaps in process or training and plan sessions to close the gaps to ensure a well‑trained team.
- Ensure all confirmed bookings are seamlessly handed over to operational teams, event planners and event managers.
- Support new starter training on hotel systems, packages, event processes, and service standards.
- Help refine processes to improve speed, accuracy, and client experience.
- Step in to assist with high‑profile event site visits.
- Maintain strong relationships with repeat bookers, corporate clients, wedding couples, and agency partners.
- Champion our hotel’s brand values in every interaction, ensuring every guest receives a consistent and memorable experience.
- Experience in hotel event sales, or a similar hospitality-focused sales role.
- High attention to detail with a strong commitment to maintaining brand standards.
- Confident communicator comfortable guiding a team without full managerial responsibilities.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to balance competing deadlines.
- Proficient in hotel CRM systems, PMS, and event management tools (e.g., Opera, Delphi, PMS equivalents).
- A passion for hospitality and delivering exceptional guest experiences.
- A natural ability to maintain high standards and spot inconsistencies.
- A collaborative approach and supportive leadership style.
