Licensed Psychotherapist (LCSW, LMFT, LPC, PhD/PsyD)

Madison Behavioral Health is a new outpatient group practice currently located in the Monroe Street neighborhood of Madison, WI. We are seeking a licensed psychotherapist to join our practice as an anchor clinician, with a willingness to grow into a leadership role and help shape the practice. This position is open to licensed clinicians at all career stages, but is uniquely well-suited to clinicians in the early stages of their careers interested in building a part-time to full-time outpatient caseload in a supportive group practice setting.

MBH is currently a two-clinician practice: a licensed psychologist and a family therapist in training, with part-time administrative support. We prioritize collaboration, peer learning, and consultation opportunities. Our goal is to build a training environment that will become a center of training excellence in the region.

Position Overview

MBH is open to hiring clinicians with various interest areas and clinical competencies. We currently offer outpatient psychotherapy services to clients ranging from children (age
8) through older adults. We are particularly interested in clinicians comfortable working with younger children and their families.

Clinicians typically work from our Monroe Street office, even when providing virtual care, but working from home is negotiable for up to two days per week, provided the schedule on remote work days remains full and the clinician is able to maintain a secure, professional environment with reliable, high-speed internet.

The role includes direct clinical work, participation in peer consultation, and engagement in documentation and administrative tasks consistent with outpatient practice. Clinicians are expected to comply with all HIPAA, ethical, and other applicable regulatory requirements governing clinical care.

Licensure & Qualifications

  • Licensed in Wisconsin as one of the following:
    Psychologist, LCSW, LMFT, or LPC
  • Clinicians at all career stages are encouraged to apply.
  • Committed to providing evidence-based treatment.
  • Interest in supervising or learning to supervise in-training clinicians.
  • Willing to offer both in-person and/or virtual care
  • Strong clinical judgment, professionalism, and collaborative mindset
  • Commitment to ethical practice and regulatory compliance (e.g., HIPAA)

Clinical Orientation & Areas of Focus

Clinicians from all theoretical orientations are invited to apply. Madison Behavioral Health values diverse clinical approaches and supports clinicians in developing depth and expertise in their respective areas of interest. There is particular interest in clinicians who are competent in EMDR and DBT, as well as those comfortable providing group psychotherapy.

Currently, the practice emphasizes evidence-based modalities including:

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
  • Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT)
  • Internal Family Systems (IFS)

Additionally, there is a specific clinical need for clinicians comfortable working with:

  • Children, families, and older adults
  • Individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
  • Individuals with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough intake assessments utilizing DSM-V-TR and ICD-10 coding systems to determine client needs and develop personalized treatment plans.
  • Provide individual psychotherapy using evidence-based, research/theory-informed treatments.
  • Implement crisis intervention strategies and crisis management protocols to ensure client safety during emergencies.
  • Complete timely, accurate, and HIPAA-compliant clinical documentation.
  • Use Simple Practice as the electronic health record (EHR) and telehealth platform.
  • Provide telehealth to expand access to mental health services while ensuring confidentiality and quality of care.
  • Maintain compliance with ethical standards, HIPAA, and payer and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in a twice-monthly peer supervision/consultation group.
  • Coordinate care as appropriate with other providers involved in the client's care.
  • This is a feedback-rich environment, including quarterly performance reviews, structured orientation, mentorship, and shadowing opportunities.
  • Part-time: 12-16 clients per week (2 days)
  • Full-time: 24-30 clients per week (minimum of 4 days of availability per week)

Technology, HIPAA & Confidentiality

Clinicians are expected to use practice technology in a manner consistent with HIPAA, professional ethics, and confidentiality standards. The practice relies on secure, practice-approved platforms to support clinical care and communication.

  • Simple Practice for HIPAA-compliant electronic health records, scheduling, telehealth, and documentation
  • Google Workspace, including:
  • Google Calendar for scheduling and availability
  • Gmail for professional email communication
  • Google Meet for virtual sessions and meetings
  • Google Voice for professional phone communication with clients, used in accordance with confidentiality and privacy requirements
