Sista Afya Community Care is a growing nonprofit committed to providing affordable, culturally-centered mental wellness care for women and girls in the Chicagoland area. Through our Thrive in Therapy program, we’ve served hundreds of women and girls navigating multiple barriers to mental health care with compassion, skill, and intention.
We are currently hiring a dedicated Master’s-level Social Worker or Counselor to join our team and provide trauma-informed, adult and teen group therapy services. This role blends the flexibility of remote work with the deeply personal impact of in-person community care.
What You’ll Do- Lead 4 therapeutic group sessions for adults and teens addressing various mental health concerns (anxiety, depression, trauma, social skills, etc.).
- Manage complex group dynamics typical of adolescent populations
- Create a safe, non-judgmental space that encourages teen participation and engagement
- Facilitate psycho educational groups and process-oriented therapy groups
- Adapt therapeutic interventions to meet diverse developmental and cultural needs
- Maintain comprehensive group notes and individual progress documentation
- Complete all required clinical documentation within established time frames
- Ensure compliance with confidentiality laws and adolescent consent requirements
- Participate in clinical supervision and case consultation
- Follow mandated reporting protocols for minors
- Communicate appropriately with parents/guardians regarding group participation
- Master’s Degree in Social Work or Counseling (required).
- LSW/LPC or LCSW/LCPC (preferred but not required).
- 2+ years of experience serving under-supported communities.
- 1+ year of post-graduate clinical experience, with proven ability to manage a caseload of 10+.
- Skilled in treating mood disorders, anxiety, trauma, and stress-related conditions.
- Experience using EHR software for notes, assessments, and treatment plans.
- Availability for in-person sessions once a week in Bronzeville and three evening shifts per week.

- Hybrid - (75%) Virtual and (25%) In-person, at our location in Bronzeville, Chicago, IL
- $35 -$40/hour for clinical documentation and program planning.
- Part-Time, Contractor 15-20 hours per week
- $250 Professional Development Stipend
- Contract Term:
April 2026 - December 2026 with the possibility of continuing in 2027. - Candidates must live in the Chicago area or nearby suburbs.
