We are looking for a Practice Nurse to join our friendly, forward-thinking team. We welcome applications from experienced practice nurses and from nurses in community or secondary care who are trained in and undertake compression and complex wound care. We offer full training and mentorship for other practice nursing training needs.

Ideally, you will have experience in venepuncture, complex wound care, imms (including childhood vaccinations), cervical cytology, travel imms ECGs, and chronic disease reviews (diabetes experience is desirable). Salary will reflect experience, with the upper range offered to nurses already confident across these areas.

We offer genuine flexibility and can accommodate either two part-time roles or one full-time (37.5 hours) post.
Friday working is essential
, with flexibility around other days. Extended hours begin at 7am, and experienced practice nurses undertaking telephone chronic disease reviews may choose family-friendly split shiftse.g. working from home 7-8am before bringing children to school, then attending the practice later. Trainee practice nurses will work onsite until fully trained.

A golden handshake of up to £2,000 (DOE/pro rata; T&Cs apply) is available for fully trained practice nurses.

Attention to detail and accurate contemporaneous note taking is vital to the role.

Patients are generally unwell when they attend the surgery so we require kind, caring and patient people in our team.

We use the EMIS Web clinical system. Experience with this is desirable but not essential.

We are a medium sized practice of c9200 patients. We have a team of 26 great colleagues.

Infection control guidelines require the successful applicant to be able to wear a mask/PPE whilst at work and provide evidence to meet all occupational vaccination requirements.

• Assess, plan, develop, implement and evaluate programmes to promote health and well-being, and prevent adverse effects on health and well-being
• Implement and evaluate individual treatment plans for patients with a known long-term condition
• Identify, and manage as appropriate, treatment plans for patients at risk of developing a long-term condition
• Prioritise health problems and intervene appropriately to assist the patient in complex, urgent or emergency situations, including initiation of effective emergency care
• Support patients to adopt health promotion strategies that encourage patients to live healthily, and apply principles of self-care
• Deliver opportunistic health promotion using opportunities such as new-patient medicals
