Radiology Coding Analyst Intern plays a critical role in supporting accurate and compliant coding practices within radiology. This position involves assisting staff in drafting coding reports for Clinical Examples in Radiology, analyzing coding and payment policy regulations, and providing coding guidance to members. The ideal candidate will have a background in regulatory analysis and technical writing.

During your internship, you'll be involved with:
  • Coding Report Development:

  • Regulatory Analysis:
    • Conduct in‑depth analysis of coding and payment policy regulations, including CMS and AMA guidelines.
    • Monitor regulatory changes and assess their impact on radiology coding practices.
  • Member and AMA Support:
    • Research and draft responses to coding‑related inquiries from AMA staff and ACR members.
    • Provide clear, accurate, and timely guidance on complex coding scenarios.
  • Code Change Review:
    • Evaluate code change applications (CCA) for accuracy.
    • Collaborate with staff and CPT doctors to provide feedback and recommendations.
  • CMS NCCI Edit Review:
    • Review proposed CMS National Correct Coding Initiative (NCCI) edits.
    • Draft and submit comment letters when necessary.
Qualifications:
  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Health Sciences or a related field.
    • Enrolled full‑time and carrying a 3.0+ GPA.
  • Previous experience in medical coding, regulatory analysis, or technical writing is a big plus!
  • Medical coding involves reviewing clinical documentation and working with healthcare regulations, NOT writing software, programming, or building apps.
  • Attention to detail and excellent communication skills.
  • Work collaboratively and autonomously.
  • Reliable, creative and mature.
  • Eager to learn, self‑driven and ready to take initiative.
What to Expect
  • We will be conducting interviews beginning in March.
  • Our intention is to extend an offer for this opportunity by mid‑April.
