To manage the delivery of BTHFTs emergency preparedness, resilience and response functions, and to support the enhancement and embedding of the resilience culture across the Trust.
The post holder will be required to work with colleagues from across the organisation and externally; they may be of any profession, grade or geographic location and include senior and very senior colleagues.
This role includes work across a range of incidents or events including, but not limited to:
- Business continuity incidents
- Critical incidents
- Major incidents
- Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) / Hazmat
- Site lockdown
- Severe weather
- Loss of ward/department
Daily management of the delivery of the Trusts Emergency Preparedness, Resilience and Response (EPRR) agenda, linked to relevant organisational, local, regional and national objectives.
Undertaking a role of Trainer for BTHFT, including the development of new training and ensuring existing training remains relevant for all levels of staff regarding all aspects of EPRR and business continuity using a variety of training skills and methods. Ensure evaluation is built into all training and evaluate this to ensure that the training stay current and meets the needs of our learners.
To lead on the planning and delivery for the training and exercise plan to test the response and recovery capabilities of different tiers of the Trust e.g. Strategic, Tactical and Operational programme and prepare feedback reports.
To develop, test and enhance existing Business Continuity Plans (BCPs) and action cards and create new plans where gaps exist and also maintain the Trusts list of BCPs and provide audit information on the Trusts Business Continuity Management System.
To support the development and implementation of event/incident specific procedures in respect of current emerging issues e.g. CBRN, public health emergencies, lockdown, industrial actions, Major Incidents and business continuity management.

The role sits in a small team who work on site to support our staff and patients.
To populate and review work and action plans, contact action owners for progress and elevate any actions not completed where necessary.
Co-authoring and delivery of the EPRR work plan, as directed by the Emergency Planning Manager.
Compile submissions to NHS England, Commissioners and regulators as required both in and out of incident response.
Provide comprehensive support to first and second on call colleagues with their continued professional development.
To oversee the ongoing development of the Emergency Planning web page on the Trusts Intranet, creating new content including the upload of documents and archiving of obsolete documents.
Act as a point of contact and a subject matter expert on EPRR within the Trust with the ability to work and deliver on a number of projects simultaneously.
Disseminate information relating to EPRR, including national guidance, and sharing of lessons learnt from internal or external incidents, including the management of EPRR electronic information processes.
Deputise for the Emergency Planning Manager and the Trust Accountable Emergency Officer in all relevant EPRR activities and meetings within the Trust and at regional level.
Support the process of assurance inspections, reports and audits for emergency preparedness and organisational resilience.
Provide professional support and advice to local NHS organisational and emergency preparedness partnerships within the scope of the role and responsibilities of the Trust using analytical and judgement to your decisions. Examples include the Trusts response to incidents, support available to on call staff.
Work with colleagues to ensure that a culture of resilience is embedded within the organisation at all levels; and ensure that emergency preparedness is mainstreamed into all other key functions of the organisation.
To ensure that the Trusts electronic risk register is maintained with regard to all emergency planning and business continuity planning related risks on a regular basis.
To respond to incidents and assist with Tactical and Strategic command and control as an EPRR specialist by providing leadership and support.
