Overview
Pharmacists, are you ready for a change or to try something new? Our Pharmacy Team is region wide, supporting patients from Gretna to Stranraer. We have an exciting opportunity to join the Wigtownshire Pharmacy Team on a fixed term contract. We are looking to recruit a motivated, proactive and enthusiastic pharmacist to work within our Pharmacy Hubs and GP practices. Our team of pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and pharmacy support workers make up the GP practice clinical pharmacy service, taking a leading role in medicines management and medication review as part of the primary care multidisciplinary team.
It is a rewarding role, helping patients in Dumfries and Galloway to safely manage their medicines.
This is a Fixed Term post from 20th April 2026 until 20/01/2027.
Responsibilities- Provide a clinical pharmacy service directly to patients.
- Clinical assessment and review of patients.
- Perform complex polypharmacy medication reviews with patients.
- Deal with medicines related queries.
- Assess patients' ability to manage their medicines (including at home).
- Medicine reconciliation and prescribing of medication.
- Jointly work with GP practice staff and with multidisciplinary teams within local hospitals, community pharmacies and home teams.

Some posts may require a Criminal Records Check. Changes as of 1 April 2025 to the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme now see more roles requiring PVG. If you are successful, you will be notified which level of check is required.
We may require a full United Kingdom registration with the appropriate council (e.g. NMC, HCPC, GMC, GDC) for positions requiring professional registration.
