Position: Part Time Certified Peer Support Worker (CPSW)

Description

Responsible for providing Peer Support Services to clients with behavioral health diagnoses, drug/alcohol dependence, and physical illness. Assists clients in setting and pursuing their recovery goals. Functions as a role model to peers exhibiting competency in personal recovery and use of coping skills.

Requirements
  • Must be certified through the State of NM as a certified peer support worker.
  • The starting hourly rate is $18.76.
  • 25 hours per week.
  • Spanish bilingual individuals are strongly encouraged to apply.
Summary of Duties

Responsible for providing Peer Support Services to members with behavioral health diagnoses, drug/alcohol dependence, and physical illness. Assists members in setting and pursuing their recovery goals. Functions as a role model to peers, exhibiting competency in personal recovery and use of coping skills.

Examples Of Essential Job Functions

  • Teaches coping skills, identifies the impact of negative thinking, advocates, and provides information and support for consumers with behavioral health diagnoses, and physical health issues, as well as those with alcohol or drug dependence in their recovery process.
  • Educates the member on medication compliance and the importance of regular therapy and psychiatric appointments.
  • Educates the member on healthy food choices for weight management, diabetes, or other health-related issues with obesity.
  • Supports members with getting out of the house and getting back into society.
  • Educates members on exercising such as walking, dancing, yoga, or other activities like the gym or walking at the mall.
  • Documents all encounters using current electronic health records.
  • Schedules appointments as needed.
  • Makes face-to-face contact and builds rapport on an ongoing basis.
  • Assists members in recovery by defining goals and coping skills.
  • Maintain HIPAA and client confidentiality at all times.
    • Work from home space that allows for maintaining HIPAA and client confidentiality
  • Regular and consistent attendance for the assigned work schedule.
Marginal Duties

Helps clients with paperwork for various community and state programs. Performs other duties as assigned.
