Dietitian​/Nutritionist BWFH Cardiac Rehabilitation Program

Overview

The Registered Dietitian for BWFH Cardiac Rehabilitation Program provides nutrition counseling to patients during their exercise sessions, reviews the nutrition recall of weekly records (in class in-person or via typed recommendations to be provided at the next session). The Registered Dietitian also teaches nutrition lectures and supports patient education with prepared handouts.

• Deliver nutrition counseling during exercise sessions and review weekly nutrition recalls with patients.
• Teach three 45-minute nutrition lectures (every 3 weeks in the 11-week curriculum), covering mindful eating, heart-healthy eating, label reading, and eating out.
• Utilize prepared nutrition handouts in classes.
• Participate in group sessions on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, with the following schedule:
  Monday 8:30-12:00;
  Wednesday 8:15-3:30;
  Friday 9:30-3:00.
• Perform other duties as assigned and comply with all policies and standards.
• Determine if patient care is indirect or direct as part of the role.

• Bachelor’s Degree;
  Clinical Dietitian required.
• Experience in lieu of a degree not accepted.

• Dietitian and Nutritionist state license preferred.
• Heartsaver CPR AED certification preferred.
• Registered Dietitian (RD) preferred.
• Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) preferred.

• Completed Internship.

• Good communication skills.
• Ability to effectively evaluate and problem solve.
• Ability to work independently.
• Ability to guide, teach, and motivate patients across all age groups.

• Standing frequently (34-66%).
• Walking frequently (34-66%).
• Sitting occasionally (3-33%).
• Lifting frequently (34-66%) up to 35 lbs with assisted device.
• Carrying frequently (34-66%) 20-35 lbs.
• Pushing/pulling occasionally (3-33%).

• Stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling as listed with varying frequencies.
• Reaching and manipulation (fine and gross) frequently (34-66%).
• Vision and hearing: constant to frequent use as applicable.
